if this isn't semilanceata...*pics*
    #10790071 -

...I don't know what is. Found some yesterday and some fine ones today. Found in medium short wet grass, here in my lawn in Finland. I'm so excited! This is my first time.

Hat with nipple, some have a darker ring, and are dark at the top. Layer on top could be peeled off, but not that easily, it came off in smaller slimy bits.

Gills brown to reddish brown or lighter, on the wet ones the gills could be seen through the hat, creating seams at the edge of the hat.

Stem, long and slender, hollow. Shiny. Today some of them snapped easily.

Spore print: I think it looks like black, or is it purplish?

I didn't see them bruise in any bluish color.

Here's a nipple:

Here you can see the top:

This new one had lighter gills:

The old one from yesterday got darker ones:

And here's a spore print:

Any comments or identification very much appreciated! Thanks

Those are not liberty caps.

Its either Panaeolina foenisecii or Panaeolus cinctulus or another species of Panaeolus.

That print isn't very good but from what I can see its jet black, which would indicate that its likely to be Panaeolus cinctulus.

If the print has any hint of purple, its Panaeolina foenisecii.

Thanks! So, it is active right? According to wikipedia, the cinctulus one seems to be that. This picture is from wikipedia of a cinctulus:

The cap is very similar, but in this picture they look rather big. And the stem is very broad. But then again, things like this may differ quite much I guess.

Would it be better if I just left them alone, or is it worth eating them?

My fungi book says P. Cinctulus isn't active, but it does say P. Foenisecii is active :S

That depends on what color the spore print is.  Make a better one.

What sort of crap book is that? It's exactly the other way around.

Well, I have read quite a lot about these things today. According to that information seems like the Foeniscii thing has browner spores.

I think this is jet black (new pics):

I'm hoping this could actually be Panaeolus subbalteatus.

The top one definitely looks jet black. I am not so sure about the bottom one. Looks more like dark brown to me. You should be more patient when taking a spore print. Let the cap sit for at least 5-6 hours, especially when you are trying to differentiate between black and a dark brown bordering on black.

Just one more question:

Are there any poisonous mushies that are look alikes to these type of shrooms?
I think I might try these out, but I will try and get more info first.

Edit: The paper on the first one was more white, so it looks more black on that one... yeah, I think I need to take a better spore print. Thanks.

No. What you have are definitely Panaeolus (and maybe some Panaeolina). There are no poisonous mushrooms in these genera.
Just be aware that even if they are active they are a whole lot weaker than Psilocybe semilanceata (maybe 1:4 or 1:5) and even weaker than Psilocybe cubensis (1:2 or 1:3), so you'll need a whole bunch of them to even make it past the threshold barrier.

That's what I thought, I was pretty surprised when I saw it.

It's "Encyclopedia of Fungi of Britain and Europe" by Michael Jordan

It seems a good book apart from that...

Well, it seems that many books are rather inaccurate when it comes to hallucinogenic mushrooms.

Thanks for the quick replies guys!

I'm surprised there still doesn't seem to be any conspiracy theories on this. While many guides were written by knowledgeable, experienced people, how come they're all so inaccurate on the subject of psychoactive mushrooms? The authors are probably misinforming the general public on purpose. It's very likely that the CIA has something to do with it. And chemtrails too, they're in it somewhere!

Anyway, congrats on finding those pan. cincts., they look nice. Good luck finding some more; you'll need quite a meal of them for some serious trippage. I'd say something like 40-50 or so. I've never tried them myself though.

Well, I ate about 11 of these things yesterday to test them, I should have eaten them all, but my boyfriend was a little worried, so I just ate a few. As I expected, nothing happened. The taste was not bad, it was almost pleasant, and no other side effects what so ever.

Next time I will be eating about 40-50, like koraks just pointed out. If I find that much that is. And see how that goes.

It would be very interesting if these things would actually work a charm ^^

Be patient and wait for the liberty caps. I live in Finland too on the west coast and they should start growing here in a few weeks. I picked my first liberty caps around the 20th of august last year but there were lots of them so they had probably been there for maybe a week before me and my friend found them.

If you speak swedish like I do you can visit www.flashback.info and go to the hallucinogenic forum and look in the sticky called "FAQ: Toppslätsskivling (Psilocybe Semilanceata)[officiell identifieringstråd]" for help on finding them.
