I think about a couple things when I see something like that.


If there were Aliens that could visit far off star systems with ease I surmise they would be very interested in other life forms...  We are what I would consider semi-intelligent life forms.  We find the idea of seeing other forms of life ESPECIALLY HIGHLY EVOLVED ONES to be very interesting.  I don't see why other intelligent life forms wouldn't be the same way.

If they were extremely evolved/intelligent they would probably have a very scientific attitude towards the examination of other (especially intelligent) life forms.  I surmise they would not wish to "fuck with the experiment" so to speak and may prefer to be low-key? 

The only highly intelligent alien consciousness I have experienced directly deals with various drug experience....

I recall seeing a cave painting of an being clearly wearing a space helmet with a mushroom growing out of his hand.... Wish I could find it......
