Done with raves

I got back a little bit ago from my first music event of the year...and I think I'm totally done with the electronic music scene around here.

It's gotten super cliquey, and it's quite clear that most of the people going don't give a fuck about the music and just want a place to buy drugs and get so fucked up they can't finish a fucking sentence.

Done, done, done.  Done with the people who shout "PLUR" at the top of their lungs, but don't live it in the least.  Petty, childish, stupid, irresponsible people.

What I can't seem to figure out now is whether or not it's always been this way and I was just too naive to see it before, or if the scene here is deteriorating.  Either way, I don't need that in my life. :nonono:

yeah i get that to when i go to the venue in my town. just a bunch of little kids running around with their scene haircuts and neon colored shoes. its all about the image, and its been like that for a long time. to bad really

I guess that's probably true.  I was 17 when I first got into it and was eating way too much ecstacy, which no doubt clouded my vision.

Took a break for awhile and went off to school, and I hadn't been to a rave for over a year before I went to this one.  The first night everybody in my camp was drinking and everybody seemed to be having fun.

The second night everybody (myself included) started taking drugs.  I had some molly and K.  Ate about 200mg of molly and burned through maybe .3-.4g of k, and even rolling like I was the depravity of the scene was just too much.  People CONSTANTLY bumping K, eating rolls, and getting weirder, less friendly, and more exclusive in who they would hang out with. 

I pretty much went to the party to see all my old raver buddies, but as time went on it became clear that if you're not wholly a part of their little fantasy world then you're not worth the time of day :sad:

Ah well, I suppose it was time to move on anyways.

:lol: Sounds funny as hell. The only guy that ever said PLUR to me at a party, ended up being a big snitch.

Looking from the outside in the scene always looked pretty phony to me...

I guess it would be cool to score some x though, I just wouldn't be able to buy into the whole PLUR thing.

lol i tried quiting more then a year ago but the PLUR where i am keeps me in. Its funny telling new people yep i quit a year ago im gona quit after this one then old friends going no hes not lol. you know at first i was bothered by the cliquey but its there for a reason and outsiders totally can get in on it they just have to be  real raver i took my old school raver girl friend to a rave with me for the first time with my peoples and she instantnly was like she had been there longer then then mean while we chilled with some people that only started a month ago.

if you been invovled it any music scene its way better to know people then not to specially when it comes to women lol i learned that for sure and ofcourse with drugs tho reguardless i dont buy drugs. if its a good rave im feeling the rave and feel like im rolling and if i eat a roll its only gona intensify it

I don't even know of any raves by me, so I can't even say I'm done with the scene.  That having been said, if anyone knows of any in the NJ/NYC region I'm all ears, the ones I've seen advertised were more like a bunch of 16 year olds dressed a little wiggery and not raving at all.

i was never really into the rave scene, but prefer electronic music festivals..

Started going to some warehouse parties last winter, and usually just got mashed and left after daylight the next morning.

I realized around new years that it is a stupid fuckin' scene and will not be attending any others, for the same reasons you described.
