How much does it cost to go to a rave?
    #10386538 -

A friend of mine called saying he can't go and offered to sell his ticket for $70 (which is apparently what he paid for it) and when I said no, he said i'll lower it to $50 and that im getting a deal cuz they can go up to $90

Are people really paying this much money to go to a fucking party?

10-20 bucks around these parts.

Only been to a few.

Mediocre music.

Good drugs.

I guess that makes me a sellout of a raver.
Then again I'm not into the dress and the 'candi'.

Yeah that is a pretty decent size rave (est 20,000 people), givin' the venue and line up that price is typical for what your looking at.

I wanted to make it so damn bad but didn't have the $$. It's going to be one hell of a time though, if you can spare the money go for it man...Hurry though i think doors are going to be opening in a short while...

But most advertised prices i have seen are anywhere from $5-$30 for your average shindig....

All the raves I've been invited to cost 15 - 25$. I don't even like paying 15$ for that shit, if someone wanted 50$ they wouldn't get anymore than a "Fuck you".

I never understood the point of raves lol, something about sweaty stoned people out of their mind turns me off, idk, not to mention i don't like dancing and i hate techno.

my friends pay $60-100 for raves and I think they're out of their fucking minds.

The price of a rave is directly proportional to the amount of Dj's and the mainstream "popularity" and/or financial success of the "Headlining" Dj. To a lesser extent, the price is dependent on the special effects (decor, lasers, lighting, etc.), sound system (how much bass is there?), which both are directly proportional to the "Financial Success" of the headling Dj(s) ('cause they just have more money to spend on such things). For example, a rave that has Crystal Method as the Mainliner is going to be an expensive Rave, maybe in the $30-$40 range. But, a rave where the headliners is some unknown Dj from Great Britain or something, and most of the other Dj's are local artists, then its going much cheaper, in the $10 - $15 range.

I have to say, $90 is A LOT of money for one rave. I'm assuming that the type of rave your friend is going to is a multi-day, multi-headliner rave, which means the rave will last for several days continuously AND most of the Dj's playing are Headliners (well-known, famous Dj's like Chemical Brothers, or Tiesto, or whatever). The $90+ is more of a EDM festival price, and would CRAZY to pay for a one all-nighter.

Chart of generalized price-to- headlining Dj Correlation:

$0 - $20 = Cheap underground rave, little/no headliners. Basic audio/visual effects.

$25 - $50 = Mainstream Rave (ex: downtown of a city). 1 or more headliners. Awesome visual/audio effects.

$55 - $75 = Mainstream Rave. Many headliners and expensive/intricate visual/audio effects.

$80 - $100+ = Mainstream, Multi-day, Multi-Headliner Rave. Not always multi-day, or multi-headliner, but these prices are common to these rave-types.

Personally, I think paying $50 for 1 rave is expensive. Last year, I went to see Infected Mushroom LIVE, which was awesome, and the ticket was about $35. For me, that's pretty expensive for one night. And it only lasted from 8:30pm - 2:30 am, not an all-nighter like most are.

On the same subject, recently I just bought a ticket to see Shpongle's Dj Set, which said it $20, but after all the "Convenience" fee's, the total was $32 (Convenience fee's...yeah, a Convenient way to rip me off!)

Typically, when I go to raves, they always range from $10 - $15 for an all-nighter and usually have discounts for dressing up for the "theme" of the rave. This loq price is because there really isn't any mainstream, "Headliners", just local Dj's and Dj's from other States/countries I've never heard of. But I love, because the music is good and the times are good.

I'm actually going to a rave tonight, and the internet info posting (found here at http://NWtekno.org ---> http://nwtekno.org/showthread.php?t=135606) doesn't even list a price for the rave, but I bet $100 its in the $10-$15 range. And the best part is?! All the Dj's are hot Babes! (see link). God I love it when the female Dj bends over her turntables and shows off her banging-boobies!

For the longest time i didn't either, i'm pretty new to the scene maybe i still don't  ?...

But it is more than just a bunch of people "Stoned out of their mind" dancing, for me at least....There are so many aspects that come together that really make it an experience.

And everyone comes for a different reason. The music, the dancing, the people, the drugs

Just a couple months ago i had no interest in electronic music, and i am not one to dance at all....But i really enjoy experiencing new things and finally went. What an experience it was

I would say i enjoy the social aspect of it the most, and the music. The people are fucking awesome, i don't know of any other place that will have that many people together in such a great mood and good vibes all around.

And of course there is always going to be a different scene/feel/vibe to every rave/event out there...Each has it's own unique personality.

It's not for everyone i suppose, but you don't know until you go....
