how much airflow do I need? pics!

Ok This is my first grow and I dont want to fuck it up.It is in the spawning stage. 4 days into it to be exact.My question is how much does it need to breathe? I have added pics.Tell me what you think!

i dont think spawning stage needs any air. Just has to be gas exchange

it does need to breathe but not allowing in FAE only gas exchange. Micropore tape is excellent for that.

I don't know what you are growing but I would say your colonization temperature is way too high which is likely to lead to slow growth and a higher risk of contamination.  Remember that depending on the size of your sub it can be up to 10DegF higher inside your sub than the surrounding air.  Commercial growers colonize at 68F.  You want to at most be in the low 70s.

Yeah bring the temperature down to the low seventies.  It is hard to see what you have done for gas exchange, but what I would imagine you could do is put some polyfill in the mouth of the bag and tie it with an elastic band or something so you have filtered air coming through the top.

What is all the black plastic for by the way?  Is that to keep light out?  If it is then it is redundant because light doesn't become a pinning trigger until 100% colonisation, and even then it is secondary to FAE and humidity.

Are you hiding an incubator under there?  Incubators are not really a good idea.  If you do not air them out regularly they get a lot of CO2 build-up and the stale air is a perfect breeding ground for bacteria.  You would be much better off without it.  Normal room temperature is fine for growing mushrooms.

I basically rolled up the edges of the bag.Yeah the black gb is to keep light out. I am using a heat rock in the bottom of the tote.....

Heat rocks are probably another bad idea.  That's one of those things for reptiles isn't it.  It is probably going to dry out your substrate or possibly even kill it if it is sitting directly in it.  Look at all the condensation inside your bag; that is probably what is causing it.  Honestly, if I were you I would take my substrate right out of that box and incubate at room temperature.  It can't be that cold in your house can it?

I think it should be warm enough.So just remove from the tote and put it in the top of my closet or something?would That be ok? and how should I deal with air you said to put polyfill in the mouth of the bag and tie it with an elastic band or something so I have filtered air coming through the top.Im lost here polyfill?I cant get a pic in my mind of what you mean?polyfill like the shit to fill holes in wood?

True that.
You could make an air filter with a bit of tube and some polyfil*. Like maybe the size of a toilet paper tube- but don't use paper. Stuff polyfil in the tube, then put it in the neck of the bag with a rubber band.

And I'd turn down the temp a bit 75 would serve you better than 80, IMO.

*polyfil is pillow stuffing. Get a big back at the craft store for like $2.

I was thinking of putting a filter in the top of the bag with it pointed down to reduce contam entry- but still it's a chance.

That's sitting on a heat rock? And 80F is the temp of the air on top? You might already have damaged it if that's the case. Time will tell.

Agreed again, I just wasn't sure if I'd missed that part or not. I was looking at the condensation on the bag, which is telling me it's hotter inside than outside. If the outside is 80 and there's that much condensation... probably not good.

Ok heat rock is off!Should I just leave it be aside from turning off the heat rock. Just so you know this is how it is set up inside the tote,note the heat rock is not touching the bottom of the box.Also I can see alot of that pretty white fluffy goodness starting around the edges!

Yeah it should be fine. Not sure what the stuff in the bottom of your tote is but you should be good now.
