shotgun terrarium humidity

Ok so I have a shotgun terrarium setup for my cakes. I drilled quarter inch holes every 2 inches on all sides. Added 4 inches or so of well drained perlite. Set it next to a window with blinds closed on top of 4 half pint jars for circulation underneath. I did everything by the book it seems.

Problem is I can't seem to keep the rh above 92% except directly after misting. I tested the hygrometer with a wet towel for an hour and it showed 100% rh. The rh in the room outside the the chamber is 40%.

How can I get the rh up above 95% constant? I think the answer is to run a humidifier in the room and raise the room rh but that's not really an option because of all the electronic equipment in the room.
Is there another way to raise rh? The terrarium is left unattended 9 hours a day for work. It is always misted before work and as soon as I get home. Misted frequently in the evenins also

Any suggestions please?

Dropping to 92% between mistings is perfect.  It's important for your cakes to begin to dry between misting sessions, as that's a major pinning trigger.  It sounds like everything is going according to plan.

ok so new question. I have done a lot of searching for this already.All the cakes have turned blue on the top third or so and all the pins have only come on the bottom. It seems the cakes are drying out and bruising and that most of the humidity is at the bottom where the tin foil is on top of the perlite.

There are lots of pins on the bottom and this being my first time I already call it succesfull.

After this flush I plan to redunk and roll the cakes and see if that clears up the problem of drying.

However my suspicion is that the cakes will dry out again since they will be in the same exact conditions.

I am not home for 10 hours a day. I mist heavy in the morning and heavy in the evening and lightly during the evening hours while I am home.

Should I remove the foil between the cakes and perlite after the first flush or will that just end up waterlogging the bottoms?

Any advice please? Thanks in advance

The foil needs to be there.  Make sure you're using squares of foil that only protect the cake from trying to colonize the perlite.  Don't let the foil cover the whole surface.

Another tip is to use your fingers to 'rake' the perlite so it has lots of ridges and an irregular surface.  This greatly increases the surface area, giving more humidity.  Also make sure when you mist that the overspray covers the perlite, re-moistening it.

For now, pile a tablespoon or so of vermiculte on each cake and soak it well.  This will hydrate your cakes from the top down and supply water for the current flush.
