Rye Grain Spawn and the Shotgun Terrarium

Okay,
I'm considering combining rye grain spawn, a poo lover, and the shotgun terrarium. What's the best way to go about it?

I've considered maybe doing a rye grain spawned to a STRAW log, on a bed of perlite in the shotgun terrarium with occasional misting.

Alternate suggestions? Advice?
