What do you think of this quote?
    #9978635 -

"We are all wired into a survival trip now. No more of the speed that fueled the 60's. That was the fatal flaw in Tim Leary's trip. He crashed around America selling 'consciousness expansion' without ever giving a thought to the grim meat-hook realities that were lying in wait for all the people who took him seriously... All those pathetically eager acid freaks who thought they could buy Peace and Understanding for three bucks a hit. But their loss and failure is ours too. What Leary took down with him was the central illusion of a whole life-style that he helped create... a generation of permanent cripples, failed seekers, who never understood the essential old-mystic fallacy of the Acid Culture: the desperate assumption that somebody... or at least some force -- is tending the light at the end of the tunnel."  ~Hunter S. Thompson

“Strengthened by contemplation and study,
I will not fear my passions like a coward.
My body I will give to pleasures,
to diversions that I’ve dreamed of,
to the most daring erotic desires,
to the lustful impulses of my blood, without
any fear at all, for whenever I will—
and I will have the will, strengthened
as I’ll be with contemplation and study—
at the crucial moments I’ll recover
my spirit as was before: ascetic.”

I think that quote offers both despair and freedom. Hunter makes the claim that we will not be saved, but I feel he alludes to the fact we have the power to save ourselves. The ultimate freedom.

So wait..
What is he saying exactly ?
Is there , or is there not a light at the end of the tunnel ?

Its a good quote.

One that is designed to spur further further thought and discussion.
Some good points in there.

In a way, I think its alluding to culture to micro-breaktrhough- its hotwired preview of the mystical times to come.

I think he is saying there is not a light at the end of the tunnel, or if there is one, it is not what many spiritual seekers hope it is.

What do you mean by this?  Could you elaborate a bit?

He's right about tim leary. It takes a different kind of person to take the time and understand. You can always get a push with psychedelics but they are only the door with a little sign explaining briefly whats in this room. When you're able to finally understand yourself a little more through these psychedelics you'll go through the door that is presented to you during these trips in the coming time. Why put our faith and hope and love at what death could bring for us. Why live to die when you're alive now. We're all going to die regardless of belief. Regardless if any of us have a clue to whats to come after we die. We still die. We can think about it and be afraid of it, but never let it destroy our spirit to live while we're living now!

We are so ultimately controlled on death and we make it such a big thing that, if some virtual visualization of death could be shown for all eyes to see we'd probably all stop following our daily lives and actually live! You call working for someone else living? I call it slavery without chains or bars on the windows.

I never liked that quote, I'd say he never really read Leary.

Leary's 'Exo-Psychology: A Manual on The Use of the Nervous System According to the Instructions of the Manufacturers' gives plenty of thought to 'grim meat hook realities'.

Leary gave folks the tools to proceed but no one listened. They turned on and tuned in but they never really dropped out.

HST was a paid informant and a member of Bohemian grove, HE WAS NOT A COUNTERCULTURE HERO, the above quote is evidence of his subtle propaganda.

The best way to control a resistance is to control the leaders of the resistance.

I'm not just making this up man there is a documented court case where 2 credible witnesses said Hunter was involved in some fucked up shit at Bohemian Grove.

You got a link to the video you mentioned?

Yeah most everyone was involved with the CIA back then but Leary never changed his message.
Hunter was actually friends with right-wing media scum and a listed member of Bohemian Grove.

I don't think they worship the Owl at Bohemian Grove but Hunter called his pad "The Owl Ranch" for reasons other than the press symbol.
If his death was really staged it was because Hunter was trying to come out with the truth, if it was a suicide it was because Hunter couldn't live with the truth.

I would hope he changed a lot during his later years and realized what he was involved in. He said he would never kill himself and then he dies from shooting himself in the head. Hmmm....

He was an interesting fellow though.

JFK was a warning. 'Mess with us and get assassinated!'

Quote:
On December 10, 2004, he was found dead from two gunshot wounds to the head.[19] Sacramento County coroner Robert Lyons determined that it was suicide. Webb's ex-wife, Sue Bell, said that Webb had been depressed for some time over his inability to get a job at another major newspaper.

What a fast shooter! Shot himself two times in the head!!!!!!!!! before he finally died.

He also noted people in black suits were following him around a few days before the "suicide."
