Lid questions
    #997638 -

If my friend has jars innoculated and has the layer of dry verm on top should he...

Leave the lids on or take them off and just cover with foil?

If he leaves them on should they be tight or loose?

Thanks.

If you got holes on the top that aren't covered with tape (I cover mine with aluminum foil) then I don't think it matters.

Personally I think they should be loose. Even if you have the flat part of the lid on upside down, sometimes it's hard to remove the lid if it stays tight for too long. It usually involves hitting the jar against a table and ending up with a bruised cake.

Holes in the lid = Tight with an aluminum foil cap

No holes in lid = loose with aluminum foil cap

Up to you

I've got the dry layer, with no holes in the lids and a foil cover...how loose should the lids be? Should I periodically take the lids off to air out the jar since I have the dry verm layer?

And what about flipping the jars? When should I do this? Should I tighten the lid for this?

Thanks.
