An air exchange Question
    #363938 - 07/31/01 02:48 AM (17 years, 2 months ago)

I have for some time been try trying to come up with a large self contained terrium for my casings. I am thinking about using a large 100 + gallon plastic bin with perlite trays on the bottom.

I was wandering if a coolmist humidifier set on a timer would gave the terrium the propper air exchange needed.

i guess you could just ditch the perlite and hook up a humidifier or maybe a couple.

I was not planning on using the coolmist for humity but as a large fish tank air pump. the hummidifier will not set directly in the terrium but have a hose connecting to the inside mounted onto a 1/2 inch pvc pipe with small air holes that setech the lenght of the terrium.

100 gallons is a lot of air to turn over. That's about 13 cubic feet of air. Depending on how much air your humidifier moves it may not be enough to rely on for air exchange. It will depend on how many cakes and casings there are in there too. The more mycelium in the tank, the more CO2 production there will be. It'll probably just take some experimentation.

I allready have a cool mist setup that is curently running 6 x 40 gallon tanks. I did this by using a manafold style set up.
but it requires to fill it with water every day. That why i want to use perlite.

what you can do is you can put a filter patch on the lid, then you could use an airpump to pump air int it 24/7. and since you have the humidifier on alot it will contribut to the airflow. as for the water being filled up every day, you can put a hole where the water sits and put a hose going in, and on the other end of that hose you can have a gallon of water sitting upside down with the help of some sort of mount. this way you can easily access it for refilling and it will hold more water.

i may, fucking drop something natural somewhere and it might grow into another piece of shit like you. i dont recognize any of you fucking people, youre not real, you came out of comic books.
