Hey guys, I just got back from hunting, found this under some pine tree's. I hope I have found a 100% identifiable muscaria this time...
This is muscaria, right?

looks hella old man...i dont know if i would gorge into that one...usually amanitas are red, with white spots, not brown with grey spots...id throw er in my lawn, and wait for babies...

There are very many variations of A. muscaria, with different colors and what not. If someone does say it is A. muscaria definately, then Im only good eat the skn on the good parts  Not those ole maggot ridden holes in the other parts lol

Doesn't look an Amanita Muscaria. The gills should be white, in the pics they look more yellow. Also it should have a bright red cap, although as mentioned in this post, variations have different cap colours.

Actually my camera sucks.. they are kind of like a dirty white or something like that. I want ToxicMan to come on here and tell me it is A. muscaria var. Alba, because he said it had a white top like this one, and the prob with the other specimens I had in my previous post was that the bulb thingy was too long. Thisd one ends pretty abruptly, and judging from his analysis of my previous specimens, i think this specimen seems to be what he was describing. ToxicMan, come tell me Im right!!!

That is not A. muscaria. It is some type of Amanita, quite possibly a deadly one. Do NOT eat.

Sorry, computer problems for a day.
I can't say that's Amanita muscaria. They should have multiple rings of volva material at the base of the stem like your last Amanitas did. This mushroom looks like part of the base was broken off, so we can't verify the appearance of the volva. You're right, the base doesn't look pointed, but I cant tell if that's the entire base.
It could be, I just don't see enough of the details I would want to see to confirm that ID.

That was all the base that was in the ground, but i think some sort of something may have been munching on it, given the evidence maggots and the like. Oh well, Im usre ill find something soon.

I just posted about that mushroom.. Amanita Gemmata. Yours looks almost identicle to mine I found yesterday. I also thought it was amanita muscaria until I took a closer look at the volva. The volva just has one little line, or collar, attaching it to the stem right? And it isn't scaly is it? If you have mushrooms demistified compare it to the diagrams of amanita volvas and you'll see what I mean. Still pretty nice looking mushy eh?

I'm just curious... but, just about every report on this mushi has either been bad, or very slight effects, and the effects given seem to range based on environmental and physical surroundings. Just seems like way too much risk for the slight possibility of chemical amusement. Are you trying for it just to add it to the list of shit you've tried, or is it for recreational escape from this boredom? I think I'd rather try synth of wierd drugs in my bathtub before aiming this route...
Besides, isn't the effective dose like 10-15 grams dry?

Maybe every report on this board has been bad, but that has mainly been based on one or two people total injesting them, and everyone else hearing about them. I don't know if A. Musc. are different in america (apparently they are) but I've heard alot of good about them from alot of people in this country. I know a coupkle of people who have been sick, but they ate them raw lol.

color suggests Amanita pantherina . difficult to tell with only one specimen , absence of volva ect.

when you find it
Remi ive found that if i eat to much fly agaric dried or fresh
i get a queezy feeling and its worse if you smoke the skin.
But small amounts fresh dont make me feel sick.Just larger amounts

Ganja,
I was told to always boil Fly Agaric to 170 degrees before eating. This will depotentize (word?) the harmful toxin, while still leaving enough to get you trippy.
Keep it cool.

Lol, dudes, look at the age of this post :P its a couple of months old, those guys are done rotted away. No I don't have Mushrooms Demystified  Its my get list though. Yes I would like to add it to the shit I have done, and I have heard many good things and many bad things about them. Anything is worth trying once. And Ganja, if you are referring to the white color instead of red, than yes they dont really look like them, but who knows? Personally, I think ToxicMan always has the best IDs, so if he says he's not sure, Im not gonna eat it

Hehe, I thought about how that remark might hurt you other guy's feelings after I woke up this morning Sorry about that, I didn't mean it like that. I just meant ToxicMan has helped me a lot with my ID problems, and his opinion on what a mushie is is very important to me. Not to say you guy's opions aren't, but in the past I have had more ID's confirmed by toxicman than anyone else. But I dont just go on what toxicman says alone, that would be silly, but he is usually right, as are all of you, but not all of you have helped me personally in the past
