Sucks for you all.

I am 21 male

My dad is fucking awesome. We like a lot of the same music. He has turned me onto older bands and I have turned him onto newer bands. He used to blaze and party a lot but now he just drinks and works. He is the man I look up to him and hope to be able to provide for my family in the same fashion he does/did.

My dad was a great provider, but he can be a real ass at times, so much so that it's hard to form any sort of personal relationship with him...

I love him very much, though, anyways. :heartpump:

love my dad, he just can't get his shit together. my little brother died and he kind of just broke inside. luckily he stopped drinking a few years ago, but he takes a handful of pills every day and hardly works.

we get along really well though these days, and that's all that really matter i guess, since i'm not living at home any more.

youd think it would but not so much, my family's huge so i've had a few father figures in my life, and my stepdad's pretty cool.

the meeting was a complete surprise for him so you could feel the tension in the room, he seems like a cool guy i just wish i got to know him

That's good that you had many father figures, not everybody is so lucky, unfortunately. Hopefully you'll have some more chances in the future to get to know him better.

In my experience, many drug/psychedelic user's have fucked up family relationships when it comes to mom/dad, but maybe that is just because that is how families are in general with or without drugs.?  Not talking against the drugs, I think if parents were using psychedelics it would make them better people, possibly.

Male here. My dad is a great provider and loves his family. I had a great childhood and I am truly blessed to be given the opportunities I have had. My mom is great even though she doesn't understand a lot about life, she is one of the best people at "working the system" and corporate America I know. I do feel a little spoiled because my parents have always made a lot of money and I have been given a lot in life financially. The only thing that I dislike about my parents no days is that they are always fighting about money, not too bad but definitely too much. My mom constantly constantly worries about their finances when they make 200,000 plus a year together. But besides that its pretty good.

My dad is such a trip, he is probably the smartest person I know. His IQ is around 140-150 on standard IQ tests(whatever that means). He knows A LOT about life and A LOT about drugs. His occupation is a computer programmer and he is fucking ridiculous, he navigates computers like Einstein with math, I swear he is brilliant, but he spends a lot of time thinking and is generally a dreamer somewhat lacking common sense, just like me .

When i first got caught smoking marijuana when I was 14 my mother(never used drugs, hates alcohol) was pretty pissed but knows it is basically harmless, but my father looked at the somewhat complex device I made and was like "wow, you made this yourself?" I think he was actually impressed in a weird way but of course didn't condone me smoking.

I am almost the same as my father in many ways, except I love music wayyy more than him and I told myself I would dedicate my life to music. We usually end up talking philosophy alone for hours sometimes all night.

He once came up to me around mid day and asked me if I believed a line is truly straight, I was ~15 and not really versed on mathematics and science and I guessed yes. He then proceeded to explain newtonian physics and einstein's theories to me as well as he could for a couple hours. Now I look back on that day as a moment that really changed my perception of our world.

The last time we had a long conversation about life he looked at me as my mom interred the room and whispered, "Good drugs will teach you this son, remember that(very serious look on his face)." I will always respect my father, his outlook on life is profound.

Its crazy how we communicate the way we do, like we are on a whole different level of existence from everyone else, NO ONE could ever understand our bond, it is amazing what he has taught me.

He pretty much used to be a party animal in college and flunked out of school because of debating with professors in his classes and stuff. He is always there for me when I need him but he knows I am on my own journey in life and has always let me make my own decisions.

Sorry for the rant, havent really thought about this in a while, nice topic OP.
