Current issues in the psychology of gender

I'm studying the philosophy of gender.  We are discussing this in class, as to if the "stereotypes" still exist in today's society.  I would like to here some input from some of the smarter shroomerites here in the P&S forum.

Cult of true woman hood:

Piety - Woman are naturally more religious than men.

Domesticity - Women take care of the "house" or place of residence.

Submissiveness - Weak, dependent, timid, obediant.

Purity - Uninterested in sex.



Male gender roles:

Give em hell - Violence is okay, aggression, daring

Sturdy oak - Confident, self-reliant, dependable

No sissy stuff - Rejection of femininity, no crying

Big wheel - Quest for success, "provider role"
