MycoRice tek
    #987287 -

I've posted this before but he's another shot,it's really worth trying and a easy way to get similar results to grains. I first posted it when my name was still MycoThaikoh, but have made some improvements

1.Cook whole brown rice by the directions on the package it comes in.
2.drain well in strainer
3.get a piece of cloth or paper towels and sqeeze out the excess water in the rice
3.scoop into quart jars.
4.sterilize
5.innoculate
shake once around 30%
Usually get 100% colonization in about 7-10 days.

The good thing about brown rice is you don't have to PC it,you can sterilize with a steambath. Another member here is trying this and you should see a growlog sometime in the near future

Wouldn't cooking the rice make it lose alot of nutrients?

In reply to:
Doesn't the rice all stick together in the jar

no. as long as you make sure to get most of the water out it won't stick. You can squeeze the rice like poo in Pavlov's Dog's tek. Then just loosely scoop it into the jar.

No,the rice doesn't seem to lose any nutrients while cooking. But you can add some poo to the water,or use some hay water while cooking the rice if you want.

All I know is that my tek works damn near as fast as grain and uses nothing else in the substrate but rice, and doesn't even need a PC.It's good enough for me at least,I've had plenty success.

yeah.. you can probly use a rice steamer.. i have... well.. i think all asian people have one.... we get 50 lbs bags of rice... lasts us a while.. but its not brown rice... white rice.... depending on the water content.. you can make it sticky or grainie... after steaming... there should be no moisture to squeeze out... well.. rince steamers are expensive... so... dont buy it unless you eat lots of rice... heheh... never made rice from directions on package... hrmm... dont think the 50 lbs sack has directions.... ;]

ill try to steam some brown rice and report on how well it works out... too bad.. small steamer is like 60 bucks... i got a big one... has a timer so i can set a delay and let the rice soak some water...i wonder if i can steam my jars in it... to steam sterilize...heheh...

oh cursed my imagination and creative cunning ways... curse me...

Loose rice recipe.
2 portions of water to 1 portion of rice.
Heat water, then put rice. Adjust flame to medium.
Cover it.
Never steer the rice while i's cooking.
When you cease to see any water, turn it off.
Let it cool down for a bit, et voila .

This is different than the 9er tek. My tek requires no verm. The 9er tek is pretty much like the PFtek except that the substrate is whole rice and not ground. My tek is a grain tek, except with rice.It has worked better for me than the 9er tek did.

that's my point, you can get grain results with actually less work than PFtek and a PC is not necessary.
