My father and I are complete opposites.
i'm a blacksheep of the family, and he pretty much disowned me when i was 13

Male
I would'nt know my father if he was standing in front of me in a supermarket line.  Alcoholic in the most debilitating way who left me when I was 2.  The # of times I've seen him since then could be counted on one hand, the last time being 10 or so years ago.

Im male. Beyond the typical resentments I get along with him pretty well. He's the type of guy who can be embarassing to be around in public.

The only common interest we really have is travelling. We both travel alot, atleast 5 times a year(out of state).
My mom and brother typically only travel(out of state) once a year.
We are also both interested in history, but entirely different time periods, different places, etc.

Otherwise we are kinda opposites, he is a conservative, Im a liberal, he has short hair and cleanshaven, I have long hair and a beard, he's a meateater, Im a vegetarian, he wears briefs, I wear boxers, etc.

Male.

My insane mom forced him to leave while she was pregnant as he wasn't giving in to her demands. Never even seen a picture.

I lost my dad when I was 14, so it's been a while. He was basically a good man who tried to push me to excel in whatever I was doing which kinda strained our relationship sometimes but overall, it was pretty good. He had a doctorate in chemistry and was extemely intelligent. R.I.P dad.

I'm a 22 year old guy.

I have a pretty good relationship with my dad, as long as it's just me and him. When you toss my mom or sister into the mix, we start fighting. My mom acts like I don't exist (won't speak to me for long periods of time even when I'm in the room) and my sister is a brat. I actually respect him a lot, and sometimes wish he hadn't married such an unstable woman.

I am a guy, I think my father was good. Although he doesn't approve of illegal drugs, but that's not all that abnormal.

I can kinda relate to you #8. My mom is very unstable. I get along great with my dad when its just us but when my mom comes in it turns into a fight.

My dad took off when I was 7 or so for some fucking floozy whore. I see him once or twice a week...my relationship with him is strange. I enjoy talking with him (we seem to have the same sense of humor) but I could never discuss anything serious with him. Hes always been more of a "buddy" than a "dad". If I could smoke with him, or admit to him that I smoke I'm sure my relationship would be much better.

Herb is a huge part of my life. I can share it (to a degree) with my mom, but never my dad. Unfortunate.

oh and im a dude.

Im a male,
Me and my father have been staying in this big ass house since my mom left like 8 years ago. We barely talk to one another, he keeps to himself and i do too for the most part. He's been the best father anyone could ever want, and has worked hard as shit just to provide for us. I feel sorry for him b/c he married a bitch that ruined his life. But im happy i have one sane parent.

I'm a girl.

I'm probably twice the age of most of you folks. I had a good relationship with my dad. He was a kind person, a lot of fun to be around. He had a wicked sense of humor. I miss him!

if you're 44 that would explain a lot, seeing as how that was a different generation with much less marital strife than today
