Nah, I know about that, but he wasn't even close.  The modern technique I think uses microwaves, and they didn't even know about that kind of frequency back then.  I mean, maybe theoretically, but not how to create or utilize it.

A tesla remote power socket would have had static bolts shooting out towards your appliances.  Not exactly the most user friendly idea I've ever heard of.

Yeah, but this was 100 years ago. If that technology had been in the mainstream this whole time you KNOW it would have been perfected by now.
I mean shit in 100 years we went from the wright brothers to F-22s.

Not to mention, wasn't the tesla electricity (AC?) non-lethal, due to its ohms or something. I seem to recall a test where someone got shocked by upwards of `20,000+ volts from a tesla coil repeatedly and were perfectly fine.

It was probably DC, but ya, the resistance sending current through unpure air is going to be very high, so 20kV isn't all that impressive.

It's also why it would never have worked.

man its hard to wrap my head around this. the technological advancements that could come out of this are astounding, I can't believe it worked.

fucking awesome. i need to read up on Tesla, I've heard a lot of people talk about him but I never read anything scholarly on the guy.
