ralph sent me bad syringes

despite ralphs good reputation, i was sent one cambodian and one texas syringe that were both un-viable and had some kind of bacterial infection. after a week there was no growth and brown tinge of the substrate at ALL inoculation sites.
they smell like bacterial infection. i steam sterilized both jars for two hours with a vitamin steamer. trust me, its not my fault.

im sorry, im not dissing ralph, he probably just messed up on my syringes, everybody makes mistakes.

Erm.

Explain your sterile procedure for preparing your jars AND inoculation.

I find it hard to believe ralphster sent you multiple bad syringes with bacterial infections.

pf tek? if it showed up at the inoculation sites it was either bad syringes or bad inoculation technique.

send him an email. he'll probably replace them. :thumbup:

aside from the unlikeliness that it was ralph based on just the information you've provided so far, I bet if you'd have PMed ralph about this he'd work with you.  I will never understand why people post messages like this, because our vendors here are pretty easy to work with.

You should've posted this in the Sponsors Forum. You could try e-mailing FIRST instead of badmouthing them in the Cultivation Forum. Shroomery sponsors are top-notch.

Did you flame sterilize the needle before inoculation?

I don't want fat syringes, I want clear & viable syringes. ET is a scam, please don't even mention ET on the Shroomery... some noob will take you seriously and gets scammed and loses his money. :frown:

All the OP said is that he "Probably" sent him  some bunk syringes and everyone makes a mistake. It could be possible that the OP did in fact receive two bad syringes. In any case I'd just email the vendor. I'm sure he/they would be kind enough to send you another batch of syringes. In any case there's a good chance that he could have received bad syringes or the OP could have just botched the grow. Who knows. In any case I'd just take it up with ralph and see what he has to say.

You'll occasionally get bad syringes from even the best site.  The good sites, like ralph will replace bad ones while the shoddy places won't.

i steam sterilized for two hours. i lost 5 out of 5 jars to these syringes.
i thoroughly lysoled the area before inoculation, wiped the needle wih alcohol, flamed the needle, and injected normally.

im gonna email ralph right now

I'm going to have to say this thing was the root of his problems. Its a vegie steamer thats made to keep the nutrients intact. I'll bet 1. it doesn't get hot enough (its made of plastic and it seems to have a crappy heating element) and its specifically made so that it only gets hot enough to a certain point so your vegies don't loose nutes. As we all know with mushroom growing you want to cook things at 225-250 degrees. I'll bet this thing doesn't even get nearly that hot.  2. It lacks any sort of pressure like a PC (while not needed it does help). Bottom line is I bet this vitamin steamer didn't do the trick in terms of temps.

I have gotten one bad syringe from ralphster's before...that can't be helped, its just part of the game. E-mail him and tell him that the syringe was contaminated and he will send a replacement. Despite my bad syringe from him he stands be his guarantee and would not order from any place else.

Definitely lacks pressure, but a PC isn't necessary for PF jars. He is using steam sterilization. Also, he said it appeared at every innoc site, which is what concerns me. tripp, if you would let us know your whole sterile technique, we could tell you if its the syringe or not.

I'm not trying to support his claims, just pointing out that he might be right. With the amount of good that I've heard about ralph, I would bet it's not him. (on a bacterial contam)

Two bad syringes both of which different strains?  Check the dates on them and see if he made them the same day.  Sounds to me like your sterile work is fucked.  The fact that you lost 5 and 5 worked pretty much rules out a contamination in the syringe.  If the syringe was bad it would of made all of your jars go bad.  Ralphster is not responsible for the jars going bad.  Don't worry though, everyone makes mistakes.
