Ok a person I once met had these cubies growing in a perlite terarium and when his 3rd flush sprouted the caps would split when they grew...so my q here is...
Why? Is this due to conditions being not humid enough?? too humid?
Also when humidity is too high does this lead to less potent shrooms as it has higher water %? Or does it not matter?
In addition when he took one of these caps to make a spore print it turned out that the cap released VERY little spores. Was it possible it was picked to early as it was picked when the cap opened and not when he saw purple all aorund it?? If so will that cap drop spores in a few days even though its picked and cut?
Finally.. is excessive bluing really an indicator of potency? Thanks for your information....

Caps most often split because of low rh, or to much air exchange, or exposure to natural sunlight, or shock of one sort or another. Or, a series of those things - togather.
Water is not where the active ingrediants are. They are in the tissue. A heavy water content, simply creates a longer drying time.
Sometimes, shrooms just have faint prints.
My experiance is -- if they are grown out on a good substrate, under optimal conditions, they lay a heavy spore track. The healthier & bigger they are, the thicker it is.

1) caps cracking & splitting usually indicates low humidity.I've never messed w/ perlite but I remember reading somewhere that the perlite tek sometimes requires an additional humidity source. 2) humidity being too high or low will not effect potency. 3) describe your printing tek. 4) the blueing reaction indicates potency, blueing will vary from strain to strain & sometimes crop to crop.
