light spore prints
    #581499 - 03/17/02 03:41 PM (21 years, 6 months ago)

I'm a newbie at cultivation. I'm getting the 3rd flush of my first batch of shrooms. I tried spore printing twice but something must have been wrong. This is what i done: i picked the shroom with care so nothing touches the cap. I pinned the center of the cap so i didn't have to touch it to remove it from the stem. With a sterile knife i cut off the cap and put it on top of some index card paper and covered it with a shot glass. The first time i left it there for 12h and the second for 24h. Anyways, when i removed the cap there was only a really light print (nothing like the prints i bought). What can be wrong?
Can it be that i picked the shrooms too early (maybe 2 days after the veil broke...)?

Make your print on foil, you'll see that it is easier to deal with. Replace the shot glass by a bigger container. Humidity has a role in printing (though I couldn't explain it). When I print, I wait 36 hours. You have to wait as long as possible. But if you wait too long, the cap will shrink and may take off some spores. 36 hours is a perfect time for me. Finally, wait till the cap is completely open in order to have bigger prints (but don't wait too much, otherwise it will drop the spores)
