They are hard working people... Their lives involve a lot of standing and sitting, more sitting than standing. They are forced to a life of drugs to help them make good music when most people don't even consider it "music". They are constantly being bombarded with hot raver chicks wearing close to nothing.And some of them have paychecks a doctor would look at and cry.They have extremely rough lives. So next time you are at the club and you think to yourself "boy they have it easy" just think about all that they have to go through to make your night more audibly pleasing:tongue:

What are Daft Punk actually playing inside their pyramid?

Tom writes to direct us towards the Erol Alkan forum for the first pictures I've seen of the inside of Daft Punk's pyramid. I'd always assumed they were using two laptops running Ableton and/or Google Mail and/or Linerider, but their setup is wonderfully (and predictably) cool and eccentric: It looks like: 4 x Moog Voyager racks, 2 x Behringer BCR2000 controllers, and possibly 2 x Lemur controllers in the middle (DP endorse the Lemur). Presumably there's also some computers somewhere, but there don't seem to be any keyboards involved at all.
Ps: Daft Punk? 290,000 views and counting...

UPDATE: Seems my alma mater Mixmag have captured a better shot of inside the Daft Punk pyramid, together with some words from Guy & Thomas.

DAFT PUNK ISN'T MUSIC BECAUSE THEY'RE NOT PLAYING LIVE INSTRUMENTS ON STAGE. ALL THEY DO IS STAND UP THERE AND PUSH A COUPLE BUTTONS.

So what dude? It's a show, they admit it themselves.

WELL IT'S NOT MUSIC!!!!!!!!!

My opinion: One of the best shows I've ever seen (and I've seen some good ones.) Yes, there is little to no improvisation, and no they aren't up there playing instruments. But I don't give a fuck. People get really into it (which always makes a show better), and it's just fucking awesome.

Some electronic artists do a lot of improvisation and variation of their sets throughout the tour.  It doesnt sound exactly like the cd.

Yes, but in interviews they have said they don't, and can't. Which is fine. If they did the show would suck because the lights and such wouldn't match up like they do, it'd just be some random flashing lights.

i have this theory that they really just pay some dudes to wear their costumes while they stay home in france and lay low until their "tour" is over..

and if there's little or no improvisation like somebody mentioned then...

i saw them in LA last year.. or maybe the year before and it was kinda fun.. though i was up in the second tier and wasn't aloud down to floor level where it looked like everybody was having a good time.  :sad:

I saw the '07 tour, and read an interview with them after. They said they don't use much improv because they can't.
Go listen to Alive and then go listen to any other show from that tour. They are all the same. Which is fine. I fucking loved it.
