Good thread B4B....Really an intersting subject; everyone seems to agree that this is a unique strain.

I haven't tried them yet; my PE grow is still 2 or 3 projects away, but I got my swab for when I am ready.

Now, everyone seems to say that these are noticeably more potent than, let me call it, an "average" cubensis trip....Would you guys that have tried them say you actually enjoy them more than other cube trips? More spiritual perhaps? Or would you simply say they are more potent? :sun: ~Pixie~

you mean Psilocybe weilii?  As in, not a cubensis trip?  That might explain why it was different from most cubensis trips?

They made my brain hurt more than any other mushroom strain, but I have never had anything but cubensis.

I have given lots of PE's away.... man some of the stories and phone calls while people are all fucked up...
"you didnt warn me!" and "when am i gonna come down?" "how do i come down now?" "what do i do? he is freaking out and tearing up the house!"
then there was me...
8g PE tea and a 2g PE chocolate....
I wanted it to go away, I built a blanket fort (which was no easy task at that dose) and camped out inside listening to Forrest Gump on the 5.1
I wasnt enjoying it too much until the balloon full of Nos passed the threshold of my blanket forts entry way... its just amazing how a little nitrous can change ones mood in such a delightful way

I haven't tripped in years and can't speak from personal experience on PE's, but the trip reports I get from friends I give them to say they are just really potent. Potent in the sense that 2 dry grams gives them the same trip as 3-5 grams of other cubes. Same thing with APE. APE is a really sporadic strain that doesn't produce the greatest pinsets, even from clones. Larger fruits don't start coming until later flushes. Both PE and APE are slow to fruit IME. I've waited over 2 1/2 weeks from 100% colonization for some of my tubs to start pinning. So if you're growing them and don't notice pins in the normal time frame, don't freak out. Just have a little patience and keep the FAE and humidity going.

All the experts say a cube is a cube.How can the Shroomery advance if the majority of the forum are Yes men or Yes Women?I know from my own experiences that what the strain is grown on effects the high.I have used a single isolate on different substrates and the potency does vary.It only makes sense at my level.I'm no geneticist,but doesn't the Genes program at what Ph,salt level,Protein level,etc.they will do best at?(Ratios of Psilocybian,psilocin.baeocystin and norbaeocystin with the substrate given.)
Certain enzymes work best in certain parameters.Maybe the Magic Psilocybe cubensis is the max,i have never seen it.

It's a PE/Texas cross, so it's 'half different'.  I'll let those who have grown it far more times than I have answer the question though.  After the first grow, I gave away a few prints and have never grown it again.

Does anyone know what specific procedures were used to create the original strain?  The only info I could find was in this thread on another forum:

They come to the conclusion that it's a mystery, but it was likely isolated from a Terence Mckenna amazonian strain by Stephen Pollack.  Anyone have any further info?

well i know i am walking into a shit storm here but here it goes.

i am not saying that i had anything to do with the development of this strain but i did have a direct hand in its re-emergence. i have heard mjshroomer takes the same stance, which i do not doubt. but years and years and YEARS ago i was a member of the shroomery. been so long i honestly have forgotten my old screen name(ADMINS: would love to figure out how to retrieve it!) anyhow, i was given a print (a dark, normal looking print to boot!) from an individual who claims he received it from Mckenna himself YEARS prior. we were not even sure if it was viable - it was very old and dry. sure enough it was and i began cultivating it like mad. anyhow, i contacted workman - this was when he was just starting sporeworks. i sent him a sample of it (and if workman is reading this i hope he remembers me - i was the guy that also sent you a bunch of Pan Cyan prints on slides...) anyhow, that was really the only strain i worked with for years. outdoor grows are amaziiiiiing with it - best shot at getting a print like the original.

anyhow, the word was that the strain came from La Chorrera where Terrance and his brother Dennis first discovered wild cubensis (see: true hallucinations). the further word was that it was the strain they brought back and domesticated (could be the first truly domesticated strain, not sure about that though). anyhow the FURTHER word was that Terrance and Dennis did some very avant-garde things in their experiments (see: Dennis's theories in true hallucinations). well, we all also know that Terrance really did believe the sacred mushrooms had alien orgins...

i know alot of people think the PE unsual appearance is just a result of constant cloning, selective breeding, etc, etc. my rebuttal to those theories have always been the following:

1) the original print i once had was as deep and rich as ANY cubenis i have ever seen. perhaps it only drops spores in its original extra-terrestrial habitat hahaha!
2) the strain itself is almost ridiculously resistant and durable. SEE the PF classic and what over-breeding has done to that poor strain.
3) the potency and effects are hands down completely different and much more intense than any other cubensis (to be honest i have tried ALOT of actives (Pan Cyan, Azures, etc blah blah) and the experience with PE is STILL my favorite - deep, rich and unspeakably spiritual)

anyhow, i am sure i will get flamed as that appears to be a staple response on this forum these days.

I wouldn't say PE is more potent, but it is way more intense...and the ride is solid and steady the whole way.  Of course, I guess it could be more intense and solid and steady precisely because it is more potent...however I have found dosing to be similar for me whether it's PE or another strain.  Then again, I have a very high tolerance level.

And spiritual...oh yes...very very much.

yeah, i dunno, i have had extensive experience with it and it is always very very strong. but that debate will rage until time immemorial.

Johnny, sometimes it is slow to pin other times not. the major factor i have attributed to that is the amount of substrate/nutrition available. i have found PE to be very deliberate in converting nutrients into fruit bodies. so if you want "quick" flushes simply use a bit less substrate.

i have also found that this strain digs straw with a SHOVEL! well, all cubes do but i SWEAR this strain more so or at the very least its resistance to contamination makes straw easier then others.  and of course it RAGES on cow/horse poo. never had great results with straight grain and i have never tried the PF cake method (with PE or any mushroom for that matter).

but, yeah, if it is taking a longtime to pin don't fret - they WILL fruit!
