Another fun acid-fact:  phenylalanine (the stuff found in aspartame --I believe-- it's in sugarless candy and soda-pop) can have a similar effect, chemically, on your nuerotransmitters, to some of the effects of LSD.  On every product with this stuff in it there is a disclaimer on the bottom of the ingredients list.  Correct me if I'm wrong on this --it's just something I heard from an uncertified source. :laugh:

Interesting aspartame fact: It's been shown to cause Olney's lesions in some studies.

A friend of my family is a neuroscientist, and one of his colleagues was involved in a study on this. Apparently the guy was cornered in the bathroom by a NutraSweet representative, trying to get him to sign a deal not to release the study or something like that. Pretty slimy when you think about it.

So I don't drink diet pop.

Yeah, phenylalanine is one of two amino acid precursors (the other, and more common one, being tyrosine) to epinephrine, norepinephrine, and dopamine. I do know that phenylalanine is bad news for those with a rare genetic disorder called phenylketonuria [sp?].

I also image that excess phenylalanine in the system can really gum up the various bio-pathways associated with the construction and degradation of the various catecholaminergic neurotransmitters.

I personally never saw what was so bad about sugar, that we had to start screwing around with potentially dangerous substitutes like saccharine and aspartame? :crazy:

LSD is a semisynthetic preparation derived from "ergot", an extract of the fungus "Claviceps Purpurea", which grows as a parasite on rye wheat.

HBWR and MG seeds are not good precursors for large scale LSD production, nor are any existing pharmaceuticals. I was going to post this elsewhere, but it seems like this is as good a place as any...

Someone once told me that:

Laboratory cultivation of ergot is extremely difficult, at best! Claviceps purpurea requires sophisticated submersed-liquid cultivation techniques to produce the correct ergo-alkaloids. Whereas, Claviceps paspali can be successfully surface cultivated on a substrate, but the ergo-alkaloids are different (i.e. paspalic acid), so you must adjust your subsequent extraction and synth procedures accordingly. :laugh:

Wild collection is still a highly viable source? :crazy:

Ergotamine tartrate tablets prescribed for migraine headaches are the ultimate precursor for LSD production!

im almost positive that no one syths lsd from ergotamine tablets.

the ultimate precursor for lsd would be pure lsa, or pure ergotamine.

ok..
am i missing something?

isolating ergotamine from tablets to use as a precursor would be about as economical as using morning glory seed extract

defiantly not the "ultimate precursor"

Why is ergot so damn hard to get?  Is it just because its a good precursor for LSD, or is it used for something else, too?  And anyone remember Shroomy McPot's method for making acid?  :grin:
