Former classmate is an acid casualty * 1
    #5109999 - 12/27/05 01:38 AM (17 years, 3 months ago)

I just found out that a black guy who I went to school with is now basically insane because he took too much acid by accident years ago. Story has it that he used to deal acid and apparently and had a sheet in his pants one day when it rained. The rain caused the acid to absorb into his skin.

My friend told me that the last time he saw this guy, he was wearing a turban and was walking around with a wizard type staff talking to himself. My friend went up to him and talked to him. After he was finished talking to him, he guy immediately went back into his own world, talking to himself and what not. It's so strange to hear that this happened to someone that I knew (sort of) and even stranger to hear that it was a black guy who it happened to.

I've never seen that movie. No, I don't have any proof or links to show you. Actually, this is the second person that I know who had acid absorb into his skin because of the rain. The other guy was a close friend of mine. He didn't go insane, but he said that while he was tripping, he would look at people and their heads would just melt right off of their shoulders. He spent 3 days in a closet until it wore off.

This other guy apparently didn't fare so well. It's hard to believe that he lost his shit forever like that.

It is a very powerful substance and sometimes it just dosn't jive to well with some people. I'm finding that out about myself as I've been starting to go bat shit crazy in the last month or so.

Urban myth? I mean I can't prove it, but one of my best friends was the guy who saw him. He IS indeed "out there" now. My friend wouldn't lie to me. Another friend confirmed that it was the acid that caused him to lose his shit. While that could be speculation, I believe it. She told me as if it were common knowledge around town that this is what sent him over the edge. Do you doubt that acid can do this to people??

If you had a SHEET of acid in your pocket and you got rained on, the LSD would most certainly get into your skin. Hofmann's first trip was from LSD that had absorbed through his skin. What am I doing arguing with you.

I dont believe that some guy took a sheet of acid, and it permamently made him totally nuts. This isnt reasonable at all. You dont go normal, to utterly insane overnight, it is a gradual thing, and even then, I doubt highly someone would just become completely unintelligeable.

It was maybe the acid triggering an underlying mental illness, but i seriously doubt that that much LSD could be absorbed that way to produce said effects.

If it were like that every person who has thumbprinted would be completly off their rocker.

When did I say that the guy didn't have a mental illness? I don't know what the hell the guy had. All I know is that anyone who knows anything about LSD knows that a sheet of LSD is more than enough to cause certain people to go insane over night. Obviously, this guy was one of them. Don't believe me, though.

Yeah. That's a retarded urban myth. I've heard with a vial of liquid, sheets, etc.

I don't see why a massive dose of LSD would make you permanently "insane". Does going on a 2-week booze bender make you permanently irrational and belligerent?

Meh. ifallapart, from these very boards, had a sheet of acid tucked into her bra and it rained all over her and LSD soaked into her skin, and she's still quite functional.

HAHA.

But on another note, if someone had a sheet in their pockets and whe n it rained it they got wet enought. I don't see any reason the LSD-25 wouldn't send you into a trip.

It's so strange to hear that this happened to someone that I knew (sort of) and even stranger to hear that it was a black guy who it happened to.

no offense LF

you spread this crap around and you're still a mod???

LSD will not make you insane...I'm not going to go into the physical or mental issues that can happen with a large unprepared dosing but god damn man???

here's where i get confused w/ these stories...

any acid dealer knows that acid is heat and moisture and light sensitive...so, why would a dealer have a sheet of acid against their skin that wasn't wrapped in foil or plastic or both?? or even in their pocket in the same way? if it were to rain on a sheet that was wrapped in plastic or foil.. the paper shouldn't even really get wet... maybe minimally from some water leaking in through an opening.. but not like soaked and pouring acid into your skin. and even if it did somehow get wet.. a lot would be held by the fabric of your clothing or just rinsed off of your body... it's not like every single hit is going to absorb through your skin, your skin is just not that absorbant.

i personally had a full vial break in my pocket when i used to run a lot of doses... i didn't trip at all... it leaked through my pocket, through my boxers and i was at a party sweating a lot.... i was already tripping, but didn't notice any increase in the trip.

i've also taken a full vial intentionally, orally... there was no multi-day tripping... it was a hard trip for a little over the normal amount of tripping time w/a day or so of 'uhh..i feel a little weird'...

--

granted... acid could have made the guy go crazy, but i also do not buy the old story of a sheet leaking through the skin...
[edit] before i start catching shit.. no, i don't mean that the acid actually made him crazy.. i mean that it probably awoke some underlying paranoia/schizophrenia/dimensia that was already there.

i gotta agree with goobs here. every confirmed 'acid casuality' that i've heard of has been with people who had prior-existing mental issues, such as latent schizophrenia. the acid brings it to a head, but the problems existed (and were usually documented) beforehand.

I don't understand why it's surprising that it happened to a black guy...I know plenty of black guys who have taken LSD. And whites and blacks are equally open to the possibility of insanity.

Don't even get me started on "flashbacks"...I believe one experience with LSD can alter the nature of your consciousness permanently but neither myself nor any friends have ever had acid "kick in" all over again...I have experienced strange visual fluctuations after smoking marijuana in the same location where I had a strong trip...but I believe flashbacks are not a biological occurrence in the brain at all...it's all just the fact that your mindset has been forever altered and that, if you want, you can get in touch with that again.

But when I hear a story like, "yeah my dad did acid in the 70's and one time he was driving down the highway and all of a suddena lamppost turned into a brontosaurus and started chasing him cause he was having a flashback" I wanna roll mye yes so hard they'd break.

And yes...someone actually told me that once.

I don't think it's racism.

I don't think 99 percent of people, myself included, have a single fucking clue how to approach the topic of race,. We've been babied since birth on the subject, told to tiptoe around it, embrace some We Are the World bullshit attitude towards it. And as a result, no one knows how to approach the topic in a way that even approaches objectivity..

I generally don't buy any of these "accidental" dosings when a person has a uncovered sheet close to their skin...if anyone is carrying such weight they should have more sense

Ok, let me clarify some things. I'll bold some of the important words so that you guys don't get lost.

1) LSD can make some people go insane. This is a fact. I'm actually shocked that I'm being challenged on that point.

2) I am not saying that a sheet of LSD would make everyone go insane (see Chinacat).

3) I don't know the specifics of what happened to this guy, but I doubt that the acid was in his pocket unwrapped. It's quite possible for someone to have a sheet of LSD loosely wrapped in foil in their pocket, have it get rained on and then have the acid absorb through their skin (see ifiallapart).

4) Having LSD absorb through your skin because of the rain is not some urban myth. As I stated, this happened to another person who is a close friend of mine. This also happened to ifallapart who posted in this very thread.

5) It's not racist for me to state that I find it unusual for a black person to sell LSD. I personally have not met many black people who enjoy LSD.

6) Yes, I'm serious.

Thanks for breaking it down for us uneducated folk, Learyfan :smirk:

Most everyone knows a wet sheet against skin will cause psychedelic effects... Still, I do not believe your friend. Like a glass full of LSD laden orange juice will make you trip, doesn't mean it will turn you into an orange. Don't take it personally... What kind of reaction do you think you would have received for posting this in The Psychedelic Experience forum as a newb?

Well apparently it was necessary.  All I said was that someone that I know went insane because of LSD and everyone went "Dude, LSD doesn't automatically make you insane!  I've taken it and I'm not insane!"

Most everyone knows a wet sheet against skin will cause psychedelic effects... Still, I do not believe your friend.

That's fine.

Like a glass full of LSD laden orange juice will make you trip, doesn't mean it will turn you into an orange. Don't take it personally

How can you say that the "acid in the rain" thing is just an urban myth even after Shroomery member #135488, ifallapart claimed that the same thing happened to her in this very thread

Quote:

... What kind of reaction do you think you would have received for posting this in The Psychedelic Experience forum as a newb?

What kind of reaction?  Well now I don't know.  I mean, I thought it was common knowledge that LSD can make some people go insane.  I mean, it's a fucking fact.  I mean even if I never take LSD again, I'll always love it like a member of my family.  That doesn't mean that I'm going to ignore the fact that LSD causes some people to go insane.

I wear a turban and carry a wizard staff when I'm sober.

That said, one time my friend had about 120 dosed sugar cubes in his pocket  wrapped in aluminum foil. (I'm not making this up or saying I heard it from AFOAF... I WAS THERE) .. and on our way through the woods, he slipped and fell into the creek.. soaking his pants. We hurried back to his house but by the time we got there it was just a big blog of sugar acid mush.  So I started scooping out little piles for doses with my bare hands, and started tripping within minutes. Same with my friend. We never actually took any acid, it just absorbed into our skin. A lot too. I don't know how much. A lot. I was tripping for a while.

Didn't go crazy though. I was crazy before. Acid made me sane I think.

I know one guy and one chick that sort of went crazy after taking acid.. but they were all fucked up in the head to begin with. If it wasn't acid..it would have been something else. Traffic, or someone saying the wrong thing on TV

It can happen, yes, it is techinically possible...Does that mean I believe it happened to a stranger on the internet? No. I'm not saying ifallapart is lying, but would you offer me much credibility if I said I turned into a glass of orange juice because I post on the Shroomery? It all boils down to the thought that a person carrying ~100 hits of LSD would not be transporting it against their skin in the rain if they were a sensible human being... Do smart people make mistakes and pay for it? Yes...do I believe the whole story because of this fact? No.

The issue is whether your friend is lying, not if LSD can perpetuate insanity... I have no problems admitting the latter, one need not look further than this thread for evidence.

Many drugs can be absorbed through the skin. Look at benzo/cocaine.

The part that is not true, is that his former classmate went permanently crazy and thought he turned into a wizard.

It's fine that you don't believe me. This happened to a close friend of mine (R.I.P.) and someone in this very thread, but you don't have to believe us. However, it's a bit extreme to compare the "acid in the rain" story to turning into orange juice. One is possible, the other isn't.

Of course, not literally BECOMING a glass of orange juice, but thinking you've become one... Now consider the seperation of the validity of these stories...how extreme is it?

doesnt going insane cover alot of ground? meaning that one can be considered insane for a number of reasons such as thinking they turned into a glass of orange juice or because they are walking around talking to themself in a turban with a staff. im not sayin anything about believing or not believing either. Just sayin, why would 1 be more or less possible than the other?

Having acid absorb through your pants and delusionally thinking that you've turned into a glass of orange juice are two different things. I could be wrong, though. I'm as human as anyone else.

Sure they are, but delusionally thinking you are a glass of OJ from accidental dosing and delusionally thinking you are a wizard with a magic staff from accidental dosing are different as well, but that doesn't make one more credible.

wow, lots of ignorance in this thread for a drug message board.
It could be a case of "i love acid, theres no way it could hurt somebody permanently"
Well it can. There is such a thing as UNDERLYING Schizophrenia, and other underlying psychological disorders.
They pop up at certain times in peoples lives. Usually under instances of intense mental distress. War, Rape, small or large doses of psychedelics, smoking some ganja, or for no particular reason.

You can deny it all you want, and believe that it is totally safe to eat psychedelics, but some people don't come back. And there is No way to tell if you have some underlying shit that will come about.
Read some posts in the physical, and mental health forum. This sort of thing happens to shroomerites from time to time.

skeptical much. Is it really THAT hard to believe that someone, would carry acid on there person, outdoors, and get wet?

Eh, I call bullshit on this whole thing. I doubt it would fuck him up permanently.

My dad worked with a guy that was in Vietnam a while ago. The dude also did acid heavily in his youth. While at work one day the guy was in his office and all of a sudden everybody heard this blood curdling scream. When they ran to his office to see what was up the guy was going insane. Apparently having a flashback of some sort. He killed himself the next day.

I assure you, it can happen, and as for it being impossiblefor anyone to be stupid enough to ALLOW it to happen to them, I was 15 and incredibly irresponsible and stupid to carry it like that unwrapped. I don't doubt that it's happened to other people as well, who just weren't thinking, as I wasn't.

Exactly.. They wouldnt. If for no other reason than potency loss. I've never met anybody who walks around with a sheet just stuck in their pocket. People are careful with that shit. Custys don't want to see somebody pull a fucking sheet out of their pocket, not wrapped up, and using their fingers. Personally, I wouldnt buy that shit. I want to see it wrapped in foil and being handled lightly so I know there is no potency loss. IMO you're full of shit LF.

hahahahah...this thread is fucking hilarious.

I love leary's latent racism...not very pub-like at all.

furthermore, perpetuating the idiotic drug stereotypes that
his ilk has worked so hard to squash seems downright comical.

ifallapart...can I lick your boobies!?

liek omg one time I ate a 10 strip and saw god and then I
couldn't come down and I had flashbacks and now I'm legally
crazy cuz I ate 7 hits...lol lol roffls

Hoffman absorbed pure crytal through his skin and tripped and from his own discription for a square it didn't sound to too intense. This absorbing a sheet or a vial shit wont fuck you up much if at all.

I've got enough breath to waste. If all else fails I resort to personal attacks and tell them they're a fucking moron and should do some research before spouting off unfounded bullshit myths. That usually gets them more riled up. At which point I offer them a Twizler and a handshake. That usually confuses them long enough for me to steal their wallets.

Friend of mine is a bit of an acid casuality - was dosed with atleast 10-15 hits unknowingly at a party, had some mental issues before hand - and this kind of tipped the scales against his favour. He had no knowledge that he was dosed, had no interest or knowledge with LSD or Mushrooms, and his drug use was limited to a bit of pot smoking once in a blue moon.

He got 'okay' for a while and was doing well for a bit, but apparently not too long ago - he went off the deepend again and isnt doing so hot. Friend of mine used to live with him.

He was a bit wonky before hand - but being dosed with that much LSD unknowingly seemed to 'break' something in him, and he hasnt been the same since.

last seen wearing sandles walking around in the middle of winter, drinking maple syrup for its 'energy content' and refusing to eat anything but almonds.

That being said - a high dose isnt going to do that to everyone, there are people who have done far higher doses before and end up just fine, but they tend to know what they are doing, and wernt slipped it as a 'practical joke at a party'.

Wow. I bet your buddy was frustrated but atleast he got something from it.
