I hear beeps in my head

Ever since I was a kid, I have been getting random, low volume beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeps in my head.  I would say that they last somewhere between 5-10 seconds.  It's not coming from any external source.  It's inside my head.  I hear different beeps or tones and they're at different volumes.  Like I said, most of the time the tones are low volume, but sometimes I get a much louder tone.  I've been jarred a few times by a sudden, much louder tone. 

Does anyone else get this?

Sometimes..  The oddest sound I take in is that of a TV turning on, even when there's no TV in a mile radius. :lol:  Sometimes I'll hear that high frequency pitch like someone just clicked on a set but it always goes away 20 secs after.  :sad:

I hear my cell phone ringing alot. I keep it on viberate.I hear other sounds too.

Thought maybe it was from 600 plus trips.

Not trying to scare you man, but did you ever see that film Children of Men? In it a bomb explodes near one of the characters and he gets this noise in his head for a while afterwards, so he tells this chick or something and she says that the sounds he is hearing are hearing cells or something dying. just kinda relavent to mention, hope all is normal though

Yes, I get it too. It's normal for the most part. It's called tinnitus, or ringing ears.

I'm gonna do the same, always wondered about what caused it.

AH HA! What I was told is actually right. They think it happens when a hair cell in your cochlea dies. I would explain what that means but I don't feel like being a science teacher today.

That's tinnitus too. It's normal for it to happen from time to time. Hair cells die, it just happens. Luckily you have thousands of them, probably at least 10 for each frequency (I would hope).

If tinnitus increases in frequency, or you notice that you're having issues hearing a certain range of sounds, you might want to have a hearing test done. There are some late onset genetic disorders that can cause hearing loss or deafness.

Thanks for the link, Gumby.  I guess that's it.  It's nice to know what it most likely is now after all these years.  Although the causes for it seem to range anywhere from dead ear hair to aneurysm.

dude this used to happen to me when i was trying to sleep.  i'd be JUST ABOUT to fall asleep, and then...  MOTHERFUCKER.  some weird sound!

yeah i get that shit to seance i was a kid also. i hear that its either your being abducted from aliens or elf waves.
i believe both. i got one last month and it was loud.
