Is morphine soluble in naptha?

I've asked this question on several message boards and still yet to get an answer.  Somebody here must know?

Why? :shrug:  You can't put naptha in your body, so you just evaporate it and all you have is your morphine back.

I'm trying to work out how to purify pod putty.

I figure I need a solvent to defat with thus something that morphine is not at all soluble in would be good for a defat.

I could also do another extract such as iso extract the pod putty, this would hopefully leave some plant materials behind.


Theres so much crap on the internet.  I asked the same question over at bluelight and I had people telling me to just smoke pods and all sorts.  They are so stupid.

they usually just dissolve the raw opium latex in warm/hot water, then filter out any organic matter & evap/dry for Cooked or opium more suitable for smoking & eating

depends if your using raw latex or have done a extraction from dry pods ?
i think the leftover you want to be rid of is the oil content wouldn't it just separate out once it settles like it dose in poppy seed tea?

The process of extracting morphine from opium involves dissolving opium in hot water, adding lime to precipitate the non-morphine alkaloids and then adding ammonium chloride to precipitate the morphine from the solution. Its dried pods.

I'm chasing the hypothetical dragon.

Its been a dream of many a speculator that its possible to go from dry pod to smokable.  Theres lots of misinformation and lots of brainless people and it seems nobody has come up with a sure method yet.

I think iso extraction then water extraction is the best bet so far.  I've been informed morphine naturally occurs as a freebase ideal for smoking.  I believe a simple extraction will work, its just a case of getting it pure enough so that you can get buzzed within a few bongs worth.

I've no desire to goto the extent of isolating morphine.  There would be lots of other actives adding to the effect in simple extraction.

I'm aware its not going to be opium, I'm aware its going to be impure, I'm aware it takes lots of pods.... phew.  I'm trying to save this thread from the repetitive drama its experiences on other boards when posted...

Morphine base is not like DMT base.
It is almost insoluble in almost all non-polar solvents, including naphtha.

Morphine base is more soluble in water than in non-polar solvents in general.

Morphine forms a phenoxide at high pH, and a salt at low pH.
