The auto companies aren't inherently flawed. They have already restructured and are starting to become leaner and more efficient. The problem is since sales have slowed down

sounds like it's layoff time, it's what they've done in the
past when sales have slowed, sure they'll still have to pay
union workers to take a vacation but they dont have the added
expense of powering the plants or the raw materials to
produce more unneeded SUVs

Would you be o.k. with a CEO from one of those companies taking some money out of your wallet, right in front of you, and without asking your permission?  That is exactly what they want to do.

If the alternative is getting nothing at all?

You're darned skippy I would.

Am I correct in assuming that you are for corporate socialism at the expense of the people?

EDIT

Capitalism does not work when risk is taken out of the equation!  Small businesses understand that.  That is why they are as innovative and efficient as possible!

Also, socialist economics is a threat to the American way of life!

Why give that much money to a corp when (I heard) giving it to the general population would do a better job?

That would help both the banks and Main Street!

I am in a minority on the shroomery, as I frequently defend the opposing side when they have a point about something or when my side make believes something about them.  I also attack my side if I think they're wrong.  People here get very confused by that and think it means I prefer the other side.

It's more likely they'd waste in on made in china crap from walmart and while the money would be gone forever, the cheap shit they bought would be broken in six months or less.

yea I've never understood that. In all the complaining about bailouts what about the people who aren't siphoning money out of the economy on buying made in china crap goods? Like the honest banks or good manufacturers we're left asking of bailouts: "what so we get nothing for acting responsibly?"
