is primitive.

I like the native idea - the healing circle - you get the perpetrator and the victim or victim's family, and members of the community into a circle and talk it through and decide what is best.

crime is like disease, and revenge is one of the symptoms.

Yes, that's why I mentioned ignorant dickheads. Healing-circles will not be useful for them, as they have to be inspired to start their healing for themselves first.
Primarily I care for the healing of the victims. Maybe later, the perpetrator may join the healing after he has seen/experienced why he needs healing as well.
