you must be an Australian, here in the US more than half of
the people that own guns use them, either for hunting or they
carry them for self defense, the way I see it, guns aren't
simply a tool for hunting, they're also there to oppose
tyranny and since the US government  hasnt done anything that
the majority of the people deem to be tyrannical or committed
atrocities against the citizens there's not yet a need to use
them in that manner

I feel it's better to have it and not have to use it than to
not have it when you need it most and just because some
dickwad out there is incapable of safely handling his firearm
doesnt mean the rest of the population is incompetent
