How would us having guns have kept that kid alive? Cops shooting people in Australia is rare. People getting shot in general is rare.

Even outlaws having guns is rare here. If a shooting occurs, its big news.

maybe you guys wouldn't have your internet filtered if you had guns to beat up the government with

Are you claiming that a knife is anywhere near as effective at killing people as guns? Because if it is, why do we need guns?

I find it remarkable how this topic (Aussie internet censorship) keeps returning to the subject of guns. WTF guys? Are you so scared for your gun rights that you feel the need to justify them at every chance? The idea that guns would stop an internet filter is laughable and I cannot take anyone who suggests it seriously.

if you want to incite a panic, kill communications, if you
could do it nation wide, people would start rioting

Or hanging out in the streets together laughing and smoking weed...  as we did during the black outs.

That's how I wish it could be. Take our computers. Take our tvs.

Fuck em. We'll all meet outside and toke and have real human interaction for once.

Well thats my point. If he had a gun it would have been a lot easier for him to hurt people.

Every country is different. If Americans feel they need guns, then perhaps they do. Australians on average feel differently. Our country is functioning very well by world standards. We have a high rate of development and people feel safe. I don't think we owe any of this to guns and i don't think guns would improve our situation in any conceivable way.

dont fool yourself, killing can be done as effectively with a
knife as it can with a gun, problem with knives is that that
the damage can often be more severe, not to mention that you
dont have to reload knives, all it takes is a crowded market,
a man in japan proved that point last year

how would guns contribute to development, as for feeling
safe, it's easy to believe when the media tell you you feel
safe, the same way our press tells us we're all in danger

They feel safe because we live in a relatively peaceful society. In 2004-2006 Australia had 1.3 homicides per 100,000 people. While America had 5.6, to make a comparison. We are also ranked number 4 on the UN human development index and our development index is rising. By comparison, America is ranked number 15.

lol I guess your alright then. I don't live in your country so i don't judge how you live. In Australia our system seems to be working alright. The lack of guns has not lead to a high homicide rate or a high crime rate.

But some the stuff the government is pulling at the moment is dead wrong in my opinion. Im hoping people wake up soon.
