Personal Diagnosis
    #9485014 -

I've been realizing over the past few weeks that I'm OCD

It doesn't really matter at all, I mean no one would notice it, but I have so many just little things that have to be justttt right.

Volume when I'm watching TV has to be above 15, then it can go 17 18 20 22 24 25 27 30... Those are my only options, otherwise I get pissed.

If I start to do HW and I mess up in the first problem, I need to just get a new fucking sheet, I can't erase it...

I started to notice when I was getting my Christmas presents together, they ALL need to be in one bag before I wrap them, I can't stand if they are in separate bags.

I organize my backpack about once a week, getting rid of any loose scraps or pencils without erasers...

I clean my room fairly often, and keep everything where it goes.

Haha there is no point to this really... just realized I'm OCD is all

*Edit*

I'm calling it OCD but its more of perfectionism on stupid shit...

Well ya it definitely isn't ocd, however I think its beyond just organization.

Organization is like a personality trait or whatever, and you can choose not to be organized.

If my shit isn't together and just right it bugs the shit out of me...

i go insane if somebody leaves a cigarette half snuffed in the ash tray, or even leaves any remnant of an ember burning, and can rarely tolerate going more than 60 seconds without putting it out myself, whereafter i feel the need to break up each clump of ash in the tray before i'm satisfied. is that unusual?

I have a regiment for making my cereal in the mornings, it has to be timed right or it goes soggy....I actually time the milk absorption with an egg timer.

Everyone has little things they like perfect, it's not necessarily OCD.

DeadPhan notice my punctuation and grammar. lol

I have certain numbers I choose when setting the volume on my stereo in my car. 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 8, 10, 12, 14, 15, 16, 18, 20. I only have periods in odd numbers like "ect...". I like to keep stuff fairly organized in respect to other things. I might have all of the stuff on my desk aligned horizontally or vertically. I can't have my cellphone sitting on a hard object. It's always on something soft even if it's just a magazine. If I'm writing in pencil and I form a letter weird I will erase it and rewrite it multiple times until I'm happy with it. When I was a kid I would exit a room and turn the light off then go back into the room and turn the light back on, then back off again before leaving. I made myself break that habit though because it was silly. I can't think of anything else, but I'm sure there are more odd habits I have that I just don't notice.

If I sharpen one pencil, I have to sharpen all of them so that they are the same length

I guess it's not really that uncommon for these little nuances to every day life...

Does your OCD get in the way of you living your life? If not, then it's not OCD. Disorders are only disorders if they make living life difficult. Otherwise it's just a personality type and you'd just have an obsessive compulsive personality.

Just being picky... same shit.

i have a problem with even numbers (there can't be 3 cookies, there has to be 2 or 0) and symmetry.

i used to wash my hands like 20 times a day, but got over that after some really bad chapped hands.

I bet you have RLS too, and a bunch of other stuff the pharmaceutical industry made up to convince people that they need to buy more drugs from them...

If thats not OCD, then its pretty close.  Its quite possible that this stuff might continue to develop and eventually reach a much more disruptive level of perfectionism and rituals.

One thing that irks me is when people say "I'm OCD".  I don't get it, where did that come from?

I hear that a lot, and I once challenged a friend about it. But he insisted that you're supposed to say "I am OCD"  and not  "I have OCD".  Which doesn't make any sense because if you say the whole thing, then you'd be saying  "I am obsessive compulsive disorder".

A disorder is something that you have, not something you are, right?  It makes sense to say "I'm obsessive compulsive".  So saying "I'm OC" would make sense, but no one would know what you were talking about.  Saying "I'm OCD" just seems stupid to me. Just think about it, isn't it weird to say "I'm obsessive compulsive disorder"?  When someone says that I always want to say "so wait, you are obsessive compulsive disorder? Like, you are that disorder?  Cuz if you are,  I know a few people that have you."
