Addicted to Cultivation????

Are you addicted to it. Is it addiction? Every fall around this time of year i get the urge. I get excited about making a wish list at www.sporeworks.com. I buy a portobella kit from www.mushroomadventures.com
What is it about growing mushrooms. I do not grow psilocybes indoors so I know it isnt the risk. I love the sounds, smell of cultivation. The smell of a kitchen that has just been cleaned with lysol or oust. The jiggle of the pc. Burning my fingers when pouring petris. The smell of malt. Picking out sunflower seeds. Oysters breaking through the tyvek. Cutting agar. blah balh ablah.
I love it. I cant wait to start harvesting. What is my problem

Stop experimenting half way through your first grow. Grow it to maturity, watch it, learn from it. Do this a few times then experiment with different ideas and figure out what works best for you.

It's an addiction. I have it too, have to get my fix by checking up on my jars and taking a peek at anything else I have growing. -> clear lids on everything. Also not growing psilocybes..

i wouldnt classify it as an addiction. its just simply you LOVE doing. i really enjoy growing things. especially when i can enjoy the fruits of my labor.

so theres nothing wrong at all about having a hobby you love.

Just like a gardner to get that passion going.  Just like any other hobby if it's something you enjoy then go for it and don't worry what others think. :wink:

I find any of the labor part to cultivation actually is fun: squeezing to field capasity: preparing grain and mixing substrates. I once read about someone who enjoyed agar work so much,they would work on agar even if they were not ever going to grow a batch out again. Addiction is good sometimes. im addicted to guitar! :headbang3:

That about sums it up. They want me to grow them, I can't help it. It's bigger than me! It's all part of a big universal master plan. The Universe was designed to grow fungi. We are all just small helpers. :bow2: :crazy2:

I think it has turned into an addictin for me. I have to stop myself from growing more mushrooms, otherwise Ill grow more than I have room for and it will consume all of my freetime.

If I just let myself go Id have to eat mushrooms for every meal just to get rid of them, and even then some would go bad.

I've been addicted to shrooms long before I even knew what "active" meant. I've been hunting edibles with my grandpa since I was two years old. I am hooked on shrooms. All of them. Edibles, actives... and simply all there are. I love them.

Why not!  Are you saying that harvesting a huge portobello, seasoning with extra virgin olive oil and other spices then grilling it and finally eating it isn't enjoying the fruits of you labors? 

To me, it doesn't matter what it is that I'm growing or cultivating.  The fact that I cared for it, nutured it, protected it, and put my passion / love into it, makes enjoying it in the end 1000 times more gratifying.  Active or non active, I'm going to enjoy it at every level. :rockon:
