Hey we found these muscarias(?) outside growing under pine trees. They are yellow caps and have white dots all over them. They also have skirts on them. I know many of u dont like the muscarias, but are these fly agaric var. formosa? help appreciated thanks these pictures arent the greatest because my digital camera sucks but, the caps are yellow, they may seem different but anyway

Ehhh... Those caps don't look very yellow to me. They could be some other species of Amanita, which could be deadly. I would not eat those under any circumstances. Amanita is the worst genus to expeiment with because a lot of Amanita contain the deadly Amatoxins found in Destroying Angels and Death caps.

come on man, don't give advice like that. With those pictures, there's no feature that's distinguishable in there. You are advising someone to do something that could possibly hurt or even KILL them. Please man, be careful doing stuff like that. You seem to be new around here, and those kind of things are very serious.
Whatever you do, do NOT eat a mushroom that's not ID'd 100%, there's probably no way anyone online will be able to ident that - too many lookalikes in the amanita species.

Sorry, I can't tell exactly what they are either. They're definitely Amanitas, but if I had to guess I would say maybe one of the Lepidellas (a subgroup of Amanitas which are white and very warty). Definitely DO NOT EAT.
The photo problem seems to be mostly that the camera keeps focusing on the background instead of the mushrooms. If you can fix that you'll probably get some pictures that are OK.
Happy mushrooming!

I posted some pics the other day to see if they were var. Formosa I found, but now I dont care if they are. There are just too many varieties of Amanita that can KILL you to worry about getting high. Like Daffy Duck said, "it's a great trick, but I can only do it Once!":p Amanita photo

i cant tell what it is but it will tell you what it definately isnt, it is not aminita muscaria or any variation. the cup for example, muscaria does not have an actual cup containing the stipe, more of a rounded scaly vulva. what you have seems to be more of a destroying angel

I agree Mitch. They could very well be a variation of a Destroying Angel with veil remnants. Also, they could be Amanita gemmata, which is closely related to the Amanita pantherina. Definitely not something that needs to be consumed, due to chances of .......you know........ : ( Stay cool!-Levi7.

I agree with gumby, there is absolutely nothing that tells me they're fly-agarics except the general shape and scales. For all anyone knows that could be an unidentified amanita (its definitely an amanita of some sort) If the cap was a bright yellow with ridges along the outter cap I'd personally consider it fly-agaric but those pictures just suck.
-------------------- I went to st thomas and camped out ontop of the island... Despite my entire family being poor all my life, the land is priceless. I was chased by haitians in the main city charlotte amalie when my girlfriend and I got some cocaine for free in a bar and mixed it with alcohol, to form a stronger drug. With such confidence at 2am, we walked the 4-5 or so miles down to the beach where the african slaves lie like lions waiting on tourist prey. The war isen't on drugs... the war is on the causes that influence people to abuse drugs. drug-abuse is a by-product of the system and much like radioactive waste occurs from utilizing nuclear power, drug addicts with drug-problems will need to be properly disposed of, like the decaying radioactive waste produced from nuclear energy. -i2ancid
