Yea, I was talking about on the computer. It is wired straight to the battery/AC jack...Basically. So, it will still light up if the power supply is bad...It has nothing to do with it...And even if the power supply is bad it may still light up. The power supply just may not have enough power to boot the entire system. That light takes very little as you know to power.

Try to find a shop that will diagnose it for free...Tell them you think it's the power supply, and ask them to verify it for you...Tell them you either want them to fix it or to buy a new supply and fix it yourself...They should tell you.

I told him to check them so I assume they were okay...That's why I told him to go by a store they should diagnose it for him if he is getting them to fix it.

yeah, I'm just saying depending on the failure you may not feel much. If the plastic seats or whatever they use are firmly attached the plug may not wiggle much even with a broken solder point or a worn out jack.
Either way, it seems like Sony does shit right and doesn't neccesarily solder to the motherboard, which will be the single biggest factor deciding what laptop I buy next.

> but then if the adapter power light lights up on the adapter ... what does that mean.
All the light on the AC Adapter means is that the AC Adapter is plugged in and getting power. It does not mean that the AC Adapter is working properly and able to output the proper voltages and current under load.

You gotta learn to solder.
I suck, but I think I could replace the AC jack...Maybe.
