Turning my Problem into a Privilege
    #9322755 -

I've come to the conclusion that my life sucks and either way, I'm going to be unhappy and bitter.

I'm not on drugs, I eat healthy, I exercise daily, and I feel physically good.

But mentally, it's just a blur or something...there's just something i cant figure out about life and it's always been this way ever since i was a little kid.

I HATE being man.  Something just sucks about being a human species.  I can see right through all the assholes that claim they are "good" people trying to help.  i see through all my family members and know the bullshit games they play.

But I blame no one, it's human nature.  We evolved to be selfish for survival.  I can understand why people do the things they do and why it makes them happy.

Working two jobs or lots of overtime just turns into an unhealthy hassle making things worse.

So I was thinking about crab fishing in Alaska.  Dangerous(so the problem might end) and I can make a lot of money which can take my mind off of my problem.

Are there any other jobs that are very high paying due to the risk involved.

Fishing jobs in Alaska are near impossible to get.  There's also the military, oil rigs, selling drugs etc.

People never think it's this easy, but if you want to be happy, you really can be.

happiness is a choice, not a circumstance.

You're not alone.  This is the human condition.  But it can be addressed to some extent.

I would describe happiness as a skill, not so much a choice.  IMO it's actually a series of mental skills: acceptance, nonreaction, nonjudgment, and awareness of your thinking.

Some take a spiritual approach to developing these skills, others a purely psychological approach; most people don't recognize it as a skill and can only improve it by haphazard trial and error.  Eckhart Tolle's work and Ken Keyes' work are examples of different approaches to the same problem.  Both have been effective in my life and others.

Uncontrolled, unconscious thinking keeps people unhappy.  It is difficult to discern between what we see and what we think about what we see.  When we can't tell the difference, our whole world becomes defined by our preconceptions and judgments.  If a person has established a lot of negative opinions about the world, they will experience an unrealistically negative world, until they realize what has happened.

When you begin to examine and change the way you think, the world transforms.  If you don't want to, expect nothing to change.

--------------------
Welcome evermore to gods and men is the self-helping man.  For him all doors are flung wide: him all tongues greet, all honors crown, all eyes follow with desire.  Our love goes out to him and embraces him, because he did not need it.

your taking high risk jobs is another way of saying you dont care about yourself or what happens to you.

It will be almost impossible to be truly happy if you feel this way.

Happiness begins at self love. It is something you work towards, and it takes a lot of work. Don't sell yourself out, or others. You wont find happiness coming to conclusions about other people or yourself; such stereotypes inhibit openness and understanding, empathy. Only way you will find it my brotha is through a lot of introspection, so get to work, like the rest of us have/are doing/are planning to/are oblivious to .

You have a valid perspective.

I absolutely agree.

It's a conscious process, and it can take a lot of work and pain to realign yourself -- especially if your parents were overly negative or judgmental.

The methodology of REBT cognitive therapy can be particularly effective in building the skills WhiskeyClone outlined and is a well-documented approach to leading a less upsetting life.

Introspection, only made things worse for me I did it for ages and I dodnt have shit to show for it.
I know exactly what you mean about things being in a blur.  Its fucked I had it for ages, just like a haze of shit that follows you round...  It eventually got to a point where I made myself go tell this shit to a doctor, was diagnosed with depression and given Lexapro.  Its a cheap and easy way out, and I cant say I'm proud of it, but I'm glad I did it.  My advice to you is not to take anyone else's advice, cos no-one ever knows what the fuck they are talking about.  Take in all the different views and make a decision yourself.
