I think I made it to first class or something, dropped out in middle school. It was cool the adventures and things we'd learn, they just made it really gay by making uniforms and having a 'hand book'... I did learn a lot of useful things in the scouts though. I agree, I know tons of stoners who were scouts

I was active in Scouts until I was about 15, then I didn't do anything further until I was 17 and a half and doing lousy in school.  I decided I'd at least get my Eagle, to help with jobs and college applications, so I finished up the remaining 4 merit badges and did a coat drive for charity as my eagle project.

They had the lamest uniforms ever, I hated those fucking cowboy shirts with the snap buttons, and that ridiculous red handkerchief. The whole thing reminds me of a terrorist training camp, it was pretty much nothing but 100% religious indoctrination. It didnt work out so well for me, I think I'm genetically programed to be a dissenter when it comes to shit like that. I used to get in so much trouble for interrupting their little indoctrination sessions with questions. :shrug:

It was pretty well understood that that was the situation for everyone in our group.  We were pretty awesome about doing a shit load of service projects (hell, I even came to enjoy them), so we gave the organization and church good face, they didn't care if we smoked a few bowls with the scoutmaster while we went on our climbing/backpacking/windsurfing etc trips.

I grew up in the country so I didn't need to join some group to get the chance to enjoy the out-doors.

I just walked out into my front yard and I was in the wilderness :shrug:

Boy scouts are for city boys who don't get the chance to enjoy nature on a daily basis.

My dad thought I needed discipline. I ended up getting kicked out for busting some kids face open in a church after an awards ceremony. :shrug:
