My first thought is, "How old is this guy?"
and my own answer is that he's got to be ateen-ager. Please correct me if I'm wrong. I believe you've gotten caught up in all these cyber-thoughts, but have never read a single serious thing about Sacred Mushrooms, the history and use of psychedelics, or the risks associated with extremely powerful, mind-altering substances - especially on pre-adult psychological development. No, you shouldn't take mushrooms for the first time at a social event. You shouldn't take them without an experienced guide; and you shouldn't take them if you haven't reached the (maturational) age of at least 18.
If you hate to be lectured to...don't end up Baker-Acted into a psychiatric hospital after a transient hallucinogen-induced psychotic disorder.

umm hi-
i don't understand the hostility here. first of all 'this guy' is a girl. nope not a teenager either. and yes i have read up on mushrooms. i simply came to this message board with a few questions. i have read various accounts that it is not good to shroom at a rave and others that say that it is fine and actually a wonderful first time experience. i thought that the purpose of this forum was to provide information to those who want it, not to make people regret ever posting in the first place...

I personally wouldn't shroom at a rave.I shroomed at a fireworks display once but they didn't kick in until the skytrain(like a subway in the sky)ride home.All those people around can be very intimidating,E is the more social drug I've heard.Mushrooms are not dance inspiring either,or at least for me they weren't.Most people who shroom in their own homes listen to music,pyschedlic stuff that is slow not techno stuff that gets too fast.

Well...sorry for the assumptions. Not only have I been the foolish adolescent-minded-tripper who ate too many micrograms at a humongous Dead concert, but I've been handed
a total stranger, by cops, no less, at another
Dead concert - because they thought I could help a totally disoriented first-time tripper. I was a kid then. I've been an addictions counselor (among other titles)since then, who has seen too many people put psychedelics in their systems without any due
preparation. Sorry for my impatience, but I've met people here on the Shroomery who have through their naivete, recklessness, or lack of intelligent inquiry, incurred serious clinical disorders. Just because there are crazy 'young-uns' posting here that just eat,
smoke, swallow or in any other way imbibe almost anything psychoactive, under any circumstance - doesn't mean that is the way to be. The peer influence is so evident here
that I kinda snapped out. Sorry about that.

Hey froggie, I say give it a try! E doesn't seem to pack the punch for me that it used to, and besides, it's not all that great for us humans to consume anyway. I was thinking about taking some mushies and checking out the club scene. If you do it, post your report. Have fun!

don't listen to all these people telling u to go ahead and shroom at your first rave.. listen to me if u want, definately don't shroom your first time.. my reasons? simply because u don't know how u react to mushrooms yet if u haven't tried them... some people react alot to very little mushrooms and get full on visuel hallucinations, others just feel really high on small doses. even if u were experienced with mushrooms you would probably decide to not do it at a rave at all because u would know that mushrooms make u sleepy, kinda like in a dream trance.. u most likely won't dance. you'll probably just sit there..the lights and music might be cool at first, but as u start peeking you'll most likely start sketching..all the music well melt together and all the people around u talking and talking well start scaring u most likely. all the sensory input well overwhelm you, especially on your first trip when u don't know what to expect.you'll probably end up leaving.. or just sitting down somewhere ..there is the possibility that u won't react too much to low doses of mushrooms and you'll have a fun trippy night of sitting around listening to cool music, but it might react heavy and you'll get fucked up and thinking everyone is talking to u at once and you might end up running out of the rave. take it or leave it, its your choice.. but if it were me i think i'd rather try it on more safer grounds if it where my first time. on my second trip i took the bus just as i starting lifting off and all the voices on the bus were so loud and started scaring me cuz they started melting together and sounding like a foreign language..really scary..everyone i talk to including me, says they like tripping in a safe enviromeny with no chance of something coming up unexpected, also most shroomers hate being around loud obnoxious drunk people because of the loud talking and rowdy behaviour, because mushrooms totally turns u off of wanting to be around loud/ violent things which are some things u might find at a rave.. think about it and make a good choice

froggie, I have been to two clubs and one rave on mushrooms and I can honestly say that I didn't start fully enjoying my trip until I left the rave or club. It was like once I went outside and looked at the world, it was then that my trip got truely amazing. It seems to be alot harder to really trip good in a chaotic evironment like a rave, with shrooms anyway.

Agreed.Don't shroom at a rave. You're better off eating acid, or E, or getting piss drunk.
I've done the shroom/rave combo and it's not that fun. Maybe a nice outdoor rave. That would be neat. But you don't want to be in a cramped indoor club with people everywhere when you're shrooming. It's no fun at all.

The first time I successfully tripped off of mushrooms, it was with a few "friends" from school. They had all tripped before and were not very mindful of my first experience. We smoked a few bowls and went up to the Hill (where all the fraternities are at my school.) We headed up to a dance party, which is basically a little club. There were strobes, black lights, colored lights, and bubbles from a bubble machine. They were all having the times of their lives, but I started to bug. I couldn't focus on anything and the loud, fast music was pounding in my head. Really disoriented and starting to freak, I left the party. This was stupid on my part but even more on theirs, as I left alone and went to an empty dormitory (where I only bugged out further.)Moral of the story is... no, don't go to a club your first time shrooming. Wait until at least the second time, so you can see how you react to them. And to all who said that when they shroom, all they want to do is sit, I strongly disagree. When I peak, I cannot sit still for the life of me. I feel the need to move and would be happy to run around the house 50 times. I usually satisfy the need to move by walking around and raving a little (takes care of my hands.)

All I gotta say to MarkosthGnostic is who cares?! We can obviously tell that your a elderly fellow because you take things too seriously. We all take mushrooms for the same purpose......to trip. We don't care about the history of mush, as long as they're here now.
And raves are the perfect place to do zooms...as long as you go in there with a positive attitude.
