This only applies if you grow your own shrooms.
Do you give them to your friends and fellow trippers for free when you shroom with them? Or do you charge them?
I give everybody I shroom with personally a five finger discount and don't charge anyone in the group.

i have to charge or else my friends would know. there the type unfortunitaly that blab things i think, although they wont admit to it. 
so i would if i could, but i cant so fuck it. i just put the $ towards other new plants and/or spore strains, etc. however when i do sell it i tell them i got a whole oz of it for $100 so i sell it to them at "cost" which works out to about $3g

i haven't yet, but i plan to share freely when i get it going.
that's actually what drove me to find this wonderful site.
you see, i just went to the Oregon Country Fair, and i got royally ripped off by some punk who had me over a barrel, and he knew it. there just wasn't any other stuff available, so if i wanted to get high, i had to pay his price. i paid $20 for a single mild dose (1.5-2 g.). i should have gotten at least 1/8 for that price. i was pissed, but i made the best of it, and had fun anyway. (mellow lvl.2 trip, drum circle, and then acoustic guitar and singing around the bonfire. i love those kind of trips.)
i decided then not to ever be caught in that situation again. i will see to it that my group and myself are well taken care of. i hope to yield enough to be able to share outside of our immediate circle as well, and perhaps spare someone else the disappointment i felt.
P.S.- karma did pay me back for that overpriced dose, though. right at the end of the night, when i was gathering my stuff to go back to camp, i found a sack of weed laying in the grass just outside of the firelight. i found that to be very fitting. i love karmic energy.

nope.. i was thinking about it... but ive only told a couple of my friends that im growing and to never tell anyone that i do, so far they have kept their mouths shut and i trust them because if they do eventually blab their mouths the price is going up for them... and they told me to never give away shrooms for free... the first time you do they will always be asking for more... i have a set base price of 20-30 an 1/8.. and to people i hate 40... shrooms are not around often where i am and even when you do get them they are not of quality... once i ate 5 grams and had a level 1 trip...

I refused to receive any monetary compensation from any of my friends for allowing them to partake in the sacred mushroom experience. I wanted to grow the shrooms mainly for myself, and after I finally experienced them I wanted to share that experience with all of my close friends. Making them pay me for something like that just seems wrong.
Once, however, one of my friends knew someone who wanted to buy some shrooms from me. Since I didn't have very much money, and I didn't know this person; I decided to charge him. I did it at a very reasonable price, though.

This is how my friend works things. To friends he gives away quarters for free once every week or so. For others he'll charge to the full extent he can, just because most people are bastards if you give them something for free ( or cheap) even once. It all works out well for me, because I can always get some free mushrooms!

yep, because when you've had the experiences i've had with my trip buddies, i would feel like a dirty greedy bastard if i took their money. money is a pitiful exchange for a trip with your friends. and also it fun if they know that occasionally some shrooms will be ready and i get to surprise them with a trip. the pleasure i get from helping my friends tune in is payment enough for me.

sure, it?s a great idea to give to your friends, but people get greedy. you have to pick very carefully who you give em to.
on a side note, what would happen if you gave your pet (dog or cat) shrooms to eat??

Since I only ever grow enough mushrooms for personal use (maybe one other shroom buddie if i'm lucky) I never have to give away or sell my mushrooms. However, I told one of my friends about this site and he started growing mushrooms a little "bulker" than me (I'm still better though). Anybody that he trips with gets free mushrooms. Anybody, even his good friends, will pay for any mushrooms that are not eaten with him. I asked him why and he told me if people wanted to trip with people other than him then they can find mushroom from people other than him. In most cases he will only sell when they have tried their hardest to find some but turned up dry.

My friend who grows will give them out for free / in exchange for other stuff or favors in the future. Only to very close friends and the ones he COMPLETELY trusts can handle them.

Riiight - you probably shouldnt give shrooms out to just anyone and 'make friends' like that. If you have friends - start growing - then give to those friends you had (and trust more then average) before you gave them shrooms... then why would they stop being your friend when you run out of mushrooms?

To me shrooms are spiritual, I could never ever never never sell shrooms for cash. That would be totally contrary to the experience and I think it would be bad karma. I may trade for weed or something but haven't done that either. I may not even be able to do that. I can give freely with friends but never sell.

The thing about me is that everytime I grow some out, none of my friends ever want to do them. I have about 4 friends who have tried shrooms before but they dont really care for them. Every now and then they will trip with me but thats very rare. I even offered to give them a lot of shrooms that I have picked, but no one ever wants. I have like a ounce and half of dried cubes that are just sitting here collecting dust. I like to trip, but I usually space out the time so that I trip good when I do, so theres no way I can eat all those shrooms. This past sat. though, I traded 7 grams of them with my girlfriends friend for a tab. I also usually trade some shrooms for weed when I need it also. Im just addicted to the growing part not as much as the tripping part.

Normally for my friends and general people i know i give them for free, people that said they know people that want shrooms and want to pay i normally charge 30 or 35 for them..
I never charge friends that trip with me.
When i was in high school some how it got out that i grew and mad people were asking me, and i just denied it constantly, and stopped growing more than a couple of cakes at a time just for me. So i wasn't obligated to give away and sell.... Of course i was also involved in other things at the time like fake IDs and other shit, but that whole side and the other stuff i did was a whole different story.

DMT is another that I give away for free. A good buddy of mine and his best friend (who I've never met) always play x box together. We got to talking about DMT and I mailed him some. He thought I was bullshitting so I can only imagine his face when the care packaged arrived...

Always for free. I once gave 7 grams to my neighbor and tenant (I was his landlord) for him to trip with his girlfriend. Years later, a seemingly random girl walks up to me in a movie theater line, and thanks me for the experience which was very meaningful to her at the time. She was the girlfriend, hadn't recognized her. That felt good

I always give them away for free. Family, friends and friends of friends. I love that smile on their face the next time I see them. It’s always omg it was amazing thank you. I never had one person say it was awful or they didn’t like. It makes me feel good.

Had a few good friends over who smoke a lot but had never tried psychedelics before. Just told them eat a few and eat more a few minutes later if they felt like it.
By the end of the night we had finished them all off lol. great night. Felt like giving them out to friends was a good way to commemorate them.

Perhaps, below market value. They are so much easier, cheaper, and faster to produce than weed in my opinion.

Even after being around this place for more than a decade, I have still never grown mushrooms....
....but I do hunt for them and know of a few patches around my area that fruit once a year....
....if I have a decent harvest and have more than plenty to last me through the year then I usually give some away....
...When I have some to spare I'll give out handfuls of them to random people at festivals for free. I gave away like 2.5 ounces in total at a small festi a few years ago.

I grew cubes over 10 years ago, and I only sold them when the person wasn’t eating them with me
I gave away over half of my stash for sure
It’s nice to be able to pass out doses to friends. Some people aren’t as dead set on eating psychedelics as I was so if I wanted someone to trip with, that was the best way to do it. They weren’t about to go buy them on their own, but if a friend puts a half eighth in their hand and says ‘eat these’ that’s all it takes to turn a boring night into a very memorable one

I have given most of my shrooms away but I have to start charging to re-invest in my set up and spores etc. Shits expensive to start growing! I plan to only sell what I need to sustain my operation for personal use.

How much did you spend? I spent 100$ total on my first grow and I got about 36 dry grams. I've only invested about 200 over the course of 2 and a half years. The spore collecting is what's most expensive. I barely dedicate electricity to them.

What do you spend all the money for? Spores are 15 bucks, if you buy them. You can get multiple grows out of one vial.
Cubes don't need anything other than grain and coir. Grain and coir is like 25 bucks for a supply that lasts a decade.
For using own spores, or cloning own shrooms, you need agar and some petri dishes. That's also only a few bucks.
My first grow did cost me 20 bucks and I got almost four dry onces of cubes.

Honestly, this has become a huge dilemma for me since I started growing. And it’s not because of cheapness, or wanting to make money, or even just not wanting to share or something cravenly like that. Personally I am more than happy to share my shrooms with friends and fellow trippers. But I have a very practical reason for being extremely torn on this issue. These are scheduled I narcotics, or at least classified that way by the DEA and the federal government, and most state governments for that matter. The moment you give someone anything, according to the government, according to the DEA, you are now Walter White. Because you just went from possession of a schedule I controlled substance to trafficking in said “narcotic.“ You might as well, at least from a legal standpoint, have a meth lab in your basement, and be selling pounds of the stuff to the Cartel.
I have friends who deal weed, who I know for a fact would be more than happy to trade me an ounce of weed for however much the equivalent value of shrooms would be. But I won’t do it. I would probably share with a really, really close friend, and only if we trip together so I can keep an eye on him or her. Because there’s another nightmare scenario that most people don’t think of, and paranoia alert, this may be reaching. But my big fear is, say I trade an ounce of shrooms to a friend of mine for a bunch of weed. He sells them to whomever in single doses. I have no idea who he’s selling them to, let’s say to somebody very inexperienced. This fictitious third-party, for whatever reason, steps in front of a moving bus and gets pancaked. Ambulances and police show up on scene, and it comes out that he was on mushrooms. Now we're off to the races! Because maybe this poor schmuck has friends on scene who know he was dosed and that person X, who I traded my shrooms to, was the one who sold them to the poor guy who just got run over and killed. Now this person is facing felony murder charges because, these substances are considered to have no medical or research value at all. All thanks to a draconian drug laws. So this guy, who traded me weed for shrooms, is now looking at, I don’t know, 30 to life? Let’s take a poll. How fast do you think it would be before this guy gave me up to save his own ass?
I get that this is incredibly paranoid, and a worst-case scenario. But the only thing I keep thinking, is am I willing to even take a chance of spending the rest of my life in jail, just because I don’t wanna be a cheapskate?

Now that I've discovered ps. cyanescens culture, it's more obvious than ever to simply give them away. Initial investment for mycelium is 40$, and from then on it's pure neglect tek: feed them some woodchips every (other) year, and harvest in the autumn. If frost doesn't come too early, you can harvest kilos of fresh shrooms, so much that giving them away becomes a necessity

I need to hear more about this, you saying this is whe culture for outdoor goods? Havent heard of it.
I live in FL so anything i try and do outside idk how it might do.. I'd assume well with the humidity but it's really hot out there.

Yeah, well I'm guessing cyanescens won't work where you are, they grow in more northern climates.
Cubensis would be more endemic in your climate, but then I've never heard of people growing those in their back yard, they either grow in the wild or you grow them indoor.

Thanks for the info yeah my backyard tub didnt seem to hate it but once she was spent i think she was done, no myv patches grew i dont think.

I trade stuff with my friends on a gift basis.
I've been gifted almost all of the massive plant, cactus and tree collection I have. People give me clothes too for some reason, it's pretty cool. I often get interesting plant harvests to make tinctures and do extractions with. I gift all sorts of stuff. I'd never be able to finish all my things myself. I'm probably a bit of a sucker in terms of value, I give a lot away. I like to get people high. I will not accept money though. Then I become a dealer, been there done that, never again.

I gave away most of my first grow but even though they were highly praised, I felt like some people were not grateful to receive such gifts. Certainly, I expect and receive nothing in return unless I ask for a trade.

I give away grocery bags full, and tell them to share, but then they just sell them, so I lie the next batch and say I got contamination, then find someone else to share with. But they end up doing the same crap..... Don't try to make a profit off of my hard work and desire to make the world a better place, when I spent 700 bucks on equipment and never changed a penny. Then they have the nerve to try and convince me they can make me a lot of money if I let them sell them, and always asking to give them more. Blows my mind. Everyone I know just sees it as a money market. I just grow foodshrooms now. I'm too paranoid to grow the good ones. Oysters are friggin amazing. I might knock up some p.tampaninsis some day and just stash the jars in the woods while they grow. Sneaky truffle stash. Take that big brother.

I've always been very generous with psychedelics, because what greater gift to give than a potentially life changing trip? I gave away thousands of doses and only took hundreds in my time.
Then one time, something happened.
I was trying to make a 10 grams of 2C-E order quantity possible, because buying on that level made the cost-per-dose less than half that of a lesser quantity. But, I lacked a little money to get it done. A merchant was quitting the business and dumping his supplies on the market. So, I phoned a friend and told him what I was doing and asked:
"Could I interest you in a gram or 2 of 2C-E for *ridiculous rock bottom price* "
"No." he said. I was taken aback. We were talking something like 30 bucks for 2 grams which constitute 100-200 doses, of an entheogen he enjoyed, which never spoil.
"Uh, why?" I asked, incredulous. Not willing to help me and him out for 30 bucks?
"Because you always give enthegens for free so I'd get it for free anyway."
At that point something cracked in my heart and in my image of him. The crack in my heart healed up but the crack in my image of him, only grew. Its like a decade ago but, when its real its real.
So I totally hear you, Sub-Easy, about having given out large bags of your own shrooms and finding out they turned right around and sold them. I embrace you with my heart

I never charge my friends for anything I have grown. My tripping friends are also my coworkers and we work in a high stress emotionally draining environment. I think its good for our mental health to get together once a month or so and expand our minds. We have all said that sitting in the woods enjoying the afterglow of the experience is better for us than anything else we do together.

Well it's back, so I might as well rant some more.
I have a ton of jars, with syringe filters and inoculation portes.I bought special drill bits to cut perfect holes, and made amazing liquid culture jars with magnetic ster plates, plus made a ton of powdered LC mix that works great and even built a couple big ass static flow hoods from scratch for 300 bucks for both. About 4*2 foot.
The reason I am saying all that, is that I offer to give people my jars and make them LC syringes, if they want to try growing there own, but no one wants to try it.
A used pressure canner is only a couple hundred and a bulk pasteurization unit is about 20 bucks to build. I love millet for jars, and plan straw for bulk, because you can take it out of the colonizing chamber and put the whole block on a rack without it falling apart. So far I've never had any contamination at all, and I don't have to mess with vermiculite getting everywhere. I just make sure the Martha is dialed in with really good digital controles. I even have an app that Bluetooth graphes the temp and humidity, so I can see how it changes over months at a time, and adjust the controls till it's perfect. I don't even have to refill my fogger, because it is plumbed into the water supply with an automatic fill valve I made from a toilet fill valve.
I don't grow shrooms anymore, but I'm gutting my camper and turning it into a grow room because my fogger is just too powerful for the couple Martha tents I have now.
It's funny, I can't even give away my food mushrooms. I usually sautee a batch up after work, and I don't like the ones from the store, but it's crazy how fucking delicious the ones I grew are.
It's a cool hobby, but a lonly one, but still better than being a drug dealer.
I couldn't handle it if people knew I grew them, they would bug the shit out of me, and piss me off that they won't even try growing there own.
I am kinda itching to get some more PE going though.
It's so cool putting a big block on a rack, and watching them grow upsidedown, and look just like the ones growing out of the top. Area = yeald, so I get them growing out of all six sides with lightes on the top and bottom.
I have this great setup, and usually only have one block growing at a time. And it will usually last me a month if I cook some two or three times a week. But I just like the hobby, and like to do the builds. I would gladly share, but no one wants gormet mushrooms.
If only the magic ones were ligal. My life would be perfect.
I trust them to kick your ass too much for any sane person to have a problem with them if they were ligal. They pretty much governe themselves.
