Maybe you only think you've changed. I've heard this often and said it often myself but in the end I realized I was doing some hard work. Too say we are all one isn't hard but to diminish neurotic behavior is IMO.

I have worked on my neurotic behavior with some success. How? Just by becoming aware of it, not by trying to change it directly, maybe that's what you meant and we are talking about the same thing. However becoming aware of my thought process felt like hard work because I wanted desperately to go back to sleep.

No, because one need not reject or deny the reality of one's neurotic behavior in order to work towards reducing it.  In fact, it is quite impossible to reduce it while rejecting it. :grin:

Im not saying reject it or deny its reality?
That sounds like hard work to me... im saying what ice said, become aware of it, but then even look how hard isit to become aware of it? Its beyond effortless

At first it can seem hard cause the stream is flowing with force, but if you see you are not the stream then do you have to try & slow it down?

You were saying that working on neurotic behavior was neurotic behavior.  The basis of neurosis is the attempt to reject the nature of reality & the feeling that the world is wrong and bad when it does not conform to what you wish it was.

Don't worry about questions that you can't answer.
I consider myself a skeptic.  I'm a skeptic to the extent that the phrase "cogito ergo sum" ('I think therefor I am') does not even mean that I can deduce I'm a human being.  All I know is that I exist.

In interacting with people, my self (my body, emotions, etc) and my environment, I have to make a lot of assumptions.  I have to assume I exist.  I have to assume that I actually am a human being.  I also assume that we all exist in the same, consistent world (though I do look for inconsistencies).

Be skeptical.  Question everything.

Why is this a problem?

I think that's ridiculous.

What does concluding that 2+2=4 or deciding that the universe is probably indifferent to your existence have to do with an ego boost?

What's the difference between actually concluding something and tentatively accepting it.

A conclusion can be used as a tool by the ego in order to make informed decisions about one's actions, but to say that the purpose of a conclusion is for an ego boost ignores any conclusion that doesn't serve one's ego (such as, "I don't think that pretty girl likes me.")
