Or a shift of perception from that of projection to pure perception....i used to think he looked depressed, i couldnt see why so many spirirtual seekers wanted to learn from him, until i saw myself where he was looking from...

His eyes look tired, but the corners of his mouth are upturned & his brows are slightly lifted, which tends to indicate a positive mood.  I don't know that I would describe his expression as "bathed in bliss," but he does not look depressed.

By contrast, McKenna's mouth is turned down at the corners & his lips seem pressed together.  His brows are drawn down & inward, indicating distress.  I would describe his expression as disappointed.

Did he say he was beyond all pain and suffering? I don't remember that? This photo is no evidence of anything substantial.

I'd look pretty depressed if I'd have to wake up to a bath of bliss everyday.  Monotony does tend to get on one's nerves.

Only with variety can one appreciate the good in life, methinks.  Otherwise one would have to be perfectly content stimulating one's pleasure center with an electrode until the end of days, no?

We'll probably never know.   Does variety necessarily mean suffering, though?  Couldn't one have a wide variety of neutral or pleasurable experiences?  This is my aim in life...to eliminate the mental suffering I cause myself due to neurosis & amplify my enjoyment of the many different pleasures available to me.

For myself when i see myself in everything around me its pretty much the happiest i can get, seeing all this multiplicity as the creations of the same source & recognizing that i am that source

Theres only one place from where we feel bliss, getting in touch with that is the grandest of human experiences imo, the only way i can describe it is being bathed in it, from inside outwards, from the spine, the bone in the arms & legs upto the brain gushing outwards from every pore just pure bliss!

:crazy2:

I dont believe that you are guilty of causing yourself any neurosis in the first place, who is there to be held reponsible for this crime?

There's no knot to untie

It is not a crime, just not the way I prefer to conduct my thoughts.  I certainly have created my own neurosis, with the assistance of my parents & society.  As I recognize my complicity in perpetuating this undesirable approach to life, I am now empowered to choose another path.

Certainly.  Who else is inside my head rejecting reality & creating a miserable state of mind?  Who else is inside my head accepting reality & creating a joyful state of mind?
