lana, simply draw up 1cc of water in the syring and wrap the whole thing up in some syran wrap and microwave for a half hour. It used to work w/the plastic ones so I wish you the best of luck. [This message has been edited by The Alchemist (edited January 25, 2000).]

Remember how I said, " (It's so nice when one can laugh about failure:-)"Well I'm laughing now HAHAHAH!!! For future refferences, don't try this:-) I knew that syran wrap would melt in the microwave so I only put in one syringe instead of all of them. I turned on the microwave, let my puppy out to do his busniess, came back 4 minutes 30 seconds later to come back to a huge glob of heaping plastic! I'm able to save the plunger and needle, but the actual syringe....well, sorry doctor, we lost it:-) The reason I'm trying this is because my pressure cooker broke:-( Well...if anyone else has any ideas with glass syringes, please let me know.

You can always do it the easy way and just boil your Syringe in a large pot. 20 minutes works for me.------------------ "I think of myself as an intelligent, sensitive human being with the soul of a clown which always forces me to blow it at the most important moments." Second the boiling method. Usually wind up boiling, even though use pressure cooker for all else. When boiling, however, first draw up a full syringe of boiling water, then boil for an hour. It's how I first learned and it hasn't failed me yet. Micro could be very convenient, though. Would think it would work well with glass. Wish you well! Peace

Lana, I can not figure out why it didn't work. I have done it many times w/plastic syringes and it worked just fine. How about I mail you a few plastic ones and a print or two to make things right so send me a private message and your address. Sorry

Hi Alchemist, No worries about the syringe:-) It's very very kind of you to offer me a syringe and a print but it won't be necesary.I'm happy that you threw out an idea that I could use:-) As far as the idea not working there are many different factors to consider. 1. Syran wrap comes in different grades/thicknesses. Commercial or residential usually..maybe we used different types of syran wrap? 2. Microwaves are weird;-) Mine may cook stronger then yours or it's "high" function may be different. 3. I know that many plastics aren't great conductors of heat. SO, if you put in a plastic syringe it may not hold enough heat to melt the plastic? Glass on the other hand can get very hot! So for whats it's worth, now we both know:-) I do appreciate your kindness in offering me those syringe and prints but hey...if you don't try something you'll never know if it works. I tried it, and for me it didn't work;-) Plus, I go by a line Dustin Hoffman said in the movie "Papion" - "Blame is for two people, God and little children, and you and I are neither". Thanks Alchemist Lana
