Part of the right of owning guns in America is to be able to defend yourself from the government if you have to.  If we find ourselves in a situation like that an assault rifle would be crucial.

what pisses me off the most, is people like you that back this piece of shit bill without knowing much about it.  all people hear is "assault rifle" and picture hooligans shooting up neighborhoods with AK's and instantly go "duuhhhhhh ok sounds good".

what you fail to realize is that this bill encompasses alot more than just "assault rifles"  such as AK's and AR's etc,  not to mention it punishes law abiding citizens who enjoy collecting and shooting weapons of all kinds.  a great majority of the weapons used by thugs and criminals are not legal guns that were bought and paid for here. they come from other countries and are smuggled in by numerous organized crime groups and gangs.  this fucking bill wont stop the bad guys from getting these weapons, but it will stop the good guys.

im far from a hick, and im far from a criminal.  i would never use my weapons to harm anyone unless it was in self defense, and neither would 99.99%  of the other semi-automatic weapon owners.  get your head out of your ass and let people live their lives, i dont fucking tell you what you should and shouldnt do in life.

banks arent robbed with legal guns.  why is it so hard for people to realize this?  the illegal gun trade has been around since gun control has existed, and it will NEVER go away.  our borders are so loose, security is so lax that thousands of guns are smuggled in every single day, and are bought by mostly criminals with intent to use them maliciously.

also, i believe violent crimes have dropped since the last "assault rifle" ban was allowed to sunset.  maybe prisoner could back that up for me?

im all for stricter control of these weapons, make classes and licenses mandatory for them like you have to have for your concealed license, close the loopholes and make background checks more thorough, whatever it takes. but dont fucking take them away.

not just the government, lets say for some reason our government collapses or the economy goes to shit and all hell breaks loose, or china and/or russia decide to try to invade the mainland, there are many scenerios where law abiding citizens would be alot safer if they owned them.  but yes, the original idea, which still holds true today is that citizens not being denied guns is mainly to protect our rights.  where the government fails to uphold our rights, we shall.

If you looked at the actual statistics then you'd see the real truth. Violent crimes go UP when citizens are disarmed. Not necessarily murder, but violent crime most certainly. In The U.K. and Australia statistics favor my argument.
