i actually agree with public service.    from what ive read it would be mandatory for middle and highschool students to do 50 hours a year. thats a measly 1 hour a week.  i think its a great opportunity for learning and helping the communities and country.  it would be optional for college students in return for a $4k  tax credit, and it would be voluntary for every other american.

i see no problems, and i have no qualms about people giving back to the community. we need more of that. people now and days are so fucking lazy and selfish its pathetic.

I agree that public service is a good thing. However, forced is not. Another thing that I have to see is what kind of community service it is. It could be similar to what Hitler did in Nazi Germany. Know what I mean?

I guess we'll see when we'll see. You're right about people being completely selfish nowadays...

He brings a good point though, honestly do you NEED an assault riffle to protect yourself? No, but it sure would be useful in a bank robbery, see what I mean though? I myself do not like the ban, as I enjoy shooting the guns myself, but honestly, if someone was going to rob a bank, I'm sure they would be able to find a strong gun anyway.

Exactly his point. Only the bad guys abuse them. It's the same as banning pickup trucks because some dumb idiots try to pull out ATM machines with them.

I'm telling you. The only reason to ban any type of gun is to promote tyranny. Look at Washington D.C. for example. Now that the handgun ban has been lifted crime will go WAY down. Stricter acquisition laws I'm fine with, an outright ban is unpatriotic.

Guns are considered a manly thing, I can understand why the capability of an assault rifle is badass. I think so too, but I can live without it.

I am not usually for gun control, but I agree that wtf do you need an assault rifle for? To save lives? Interesting paradox...

In countries with gun control the results are undeniably lowered murder rates.

That's B.S.
If you looked at the actual statistics then you'd see the real truth. Violent crimes go UP when citizens are disarmed. Not necessarily murder, but violent crime most certainly. In The U.K. and Australia statistics favor my argument.
