No problem!
I haven't checked your answer but I'm sure you can plug the right numbers in there!

And I sure hope your book doesn't say "ln 2 = .6931". I hope they use the Formula: 0 sign or something. Cause that's just blasphemous lol

why quotient rule? you need the product (or is it the chain rule? I'm shit at names) rule:

dy/dx = dy/du du/dx

y = exln(x)

dy/dx = exln(x) + (ex)/x

Differential of ex is just ex and you don't differentiate the ln(x), then you leave the ex alone and differentiate the ln(x); 1/x.

Disclaimer: Its late and I'm pretty special, so I could be wrong.

You stated the chain rule but used the product rule.

The product rule is

Formula: 0.

Apart from that, you are right.

Hey man, I told you I always get that shit confused .

I have no problems doing the maths, just using the naming conventions.

Im not in any math class, and probably never will be again.  :awesome:

What do you do in that class?  Special functions?  I took two semesters of 'Mathematical methods for physicists'.  Very hard class.

I'm only a first year, so at the moment its just boring bullshit regarding vectors, complex numbers, differentiation and integration.

Although its definitely becoming less pure and more applied :frown:.

Haha, alright I mean bullshit in a sense that we've been doing this shit already for like 2 years yet we spend a good portion of this semester studying it.

I will however contend that vectors are bullshit. Vectors and matrices are gayyyy.

ur crazy they are such a valuable tool
finding the flux of a vector field has astronomical applications
and matrices turned the math world upside down
a non commutative group, thats nuts
linear algebra is extremely useful
the deeper u dive the better understanding of why we use it ensues
everything begins to connect too

How about the theorem in my sig? The dimension of the vector space generated by the rows of a matrix is equal to the dimension of the vector space generated by its columns.

How is that ugly? I almost cried when I learned that.

Well so far, my experience of vectors and matrices has deemed them clunky and somewhat pointless. I've only had limited exposure though.

I can see the applications and I know they're useful, but I've yet to be converted from what I already know and understand.
