On my own
    #9141893 -

It's different.  Been in a relationship for 9 yrs.  I know it's the right thing for my life right now, but not necessarily the easiest path.

In fact I recently spoke to my brother, he gave me hell for leaving and said I'm not the kind of woman who can live without a man.  WTF?

Any suggestions on ways of making the adjustment easier?

Yeah, forget what your brother said.
Even if the reason why he said that is because he is worried about you, you need to keep in mind that you don't need this kind of thinking, and that there's nobody who knows better than you what you need.
I think that as long as you keep in mind that now you're in this situation and assume responsibility for it you'll be fine.
Good luck :sun:

All this time I've missed you

Here is true peace
Here my heart knows calm
Safe in your soul
Bathed in your sighs

I'll be honest, it's been kind of scary.

So far I've been completely on my own for 3 months.  That's the longest I've ever lived alone.  Once I get used to it it'll be like nothing.  But even though I"m in my 30's I feel like a young kid being on their own for the first time in their life.

The path of change is always stressful but better than staying put where you don't want to be. Given time you will find new dramas to take up all your attention.

Hopefully not!  I'm not very big on drama.

Excitement, lust, intellectual stimulation  all good.

Drama    bad.

I've had enough of that for the past few years to last a lifetime.

Hey - just wanna let you know - I find you very inspiring

I'm leaving a relationship of 7 years and may be living 'on my own' fairly soon.

I also find it terrifying to the max - I do feel like a little kid who is not equipped to handle the world - but maybe that's why I know I gotta get there...

It inspires me that you're doing it right now and it's okay - and you're probably building so much strength and depth of character by living this new adventure.

I wish you the best!

Your last sentence proved my point. You indulged in drama for all those years, you must need it for some reason. But for me all life  and living is made of drama either fun or not. You are creating drama just by posting here.

Good to hear from you mushbaby, you haven't been posting as much lately.

I think it's good for people to be on their own.  Self-reliance is the best kind of power, IMO.

All of life is drama.  So what?  What else is there to do!?!?!?!?

I see what you are saying Icelander.  The relationship before this one was a heck of alot more dramatic.  Was with him for 7 yrs.  I do think my threshhold is alot lower than it used to be though.  At this point everytime I think about a relationship even a temporary one I start shuddering from the inside out.

Although I'm a little lonely, I for damn sure ain't ready.

Whiskey I've missed y'all too.  Just don't have my own computer yet.  So it's irregular visits for me right now.  Starting over can be a bitch on the budget.

That's exactly what I was telling you. You will create more and the past will fade.
