The more I learn about anything, the more disgusted I am by it

I have this horrible curiosity and unwillingness to accept anything.

A while ago some Jehovah's witnesses I am torturing came and left me with a DVD about the witnesses who were persecuted by the Nazis. They claim that Jehovah's witnesses were the only religion that steadfastly opposed the Nazis.

Here again my horrible curiosity took over. Basically I found out that the top brass of the JWs didn't steadfastly oppose Hitler, and in fact tried to ingratiate themselves before him.

Now I would rather not even know that, because next time they drop by I'm gonna show them this and they might be very hurt by it. Why should they be hurt, they seem happy in their ignorant little fantasy world?

And it isn't just social things that I find troubling as I learn more about them, I see the natural world as troubling as well. Why is it okay that lions routinely stalk and murder other animals and eat them alive?

Isn't that a bit ignorant that so many people support the protection of an animal that brings about the horrific deaths of other living creatures all the time? If anything shouldn't we be hunting down and eliminating all the lions?

So I have come to the conclusion that I just don't belong here. I need to create a fantasy world and live there... maybe I should limit my curiosity to mathematics only?

What do you think? I need some advice.

I understand completely. We often think alike.

Don't listen to these other guys (listen to Ice) construct your world according to your personal subjective desires and according to your current world view. Don't let anyone "should" all over you. Be strong enough to be yourself exactly the way you are right now. IMO if you do so the changes that are right for you (if any) will come out of all this.

We all are constructing a fantasy world to live in. I hope you make it one that works for you. You get five shrooms in my book adjust.:thumbup:

And yet most people (that I've talked to anyway) who are humanitarian, also tend to be naturalists who think nature knows best.

If you want to reduce worldwide suffering and help starving children, why would you want to save lions that cause so much suffering?

Again it boils down to this idea that humans are special. Who cares if a lion kills all the cubs of a rival male or slowly eats a baby elephant alive. In fact let's make a movie of that and eat popcorn as we watch safe on a couch in our homes thousands of miles away.

We treat humans differently because we're humans.  I think it makes sense.  It's natural to stick with your kind.
