This is probably a problem I have to solve myself, but this forum is a great way to express myself and look for help and guidance so it's worth posting.

This is a very promising sign that you might be able to change things an are willing to work. To change does not mean that life won't be messy and all change will be total and complete. This just isn't reasonable IMO and it's what stops many from attempting change.

Nah dude, it's alot easier said than done to completely not give a fuck about what other people think.

Don't be a BZ, I don't give a rat's ass what people think. I have let go of all of my old high school buddies because they suffered from a chronic case of insecure self-consciousness, with no hope of recovery because they don't want to speak of, mention, allude to, or admit any of their faults. That's how most people are in this wierd society, I don't see how you can have any trouble not giving a shit what some fucking faggoty insecure little bitch thinks about you. It's not hard at all, you just have to find the right reasons to not give a fuck. How old are you anyway?

It's one thing to simply enjoy a style of life that one enjoys, but it's another thing altogether to refer to another person's choice as "wrong" or to rationalize their behavior as being pathological or resulting from some sort of inadequacy or failing so as to create a sense of superiority or separation as yet another projection of a personal fear or control issue.

BZ?

Just because one person can overcome something doesn't mean that another can do it without problems.  I'm trying to overcome this, and I think I'm far on my way.  I finished the book "Demian" yesterday and upon its conclusion I felt like I had learned alot, most importantly, that I need to have complete confidence in myself and learn from my experiences.

I guess if it's not hard, then it's hard to find the right reasons to not give a fuck, for me at least.

The phrase, "it's easier said than done" is pretty relevant to my position.  I read quotes, stories and proverbs but all they can do is point me in the right direction, I have to find the way on my own.

And I'm 20 years old, going to a state university.
