Trouble coping
    #6044860 -

I'm not sure if any of you have been through something so severe, but I'm sure some of you can relate to stuffing emotions.

As the days go by I feel more affected by my loss. While I can use the computer, I can't feed myself, shower, or even wipe my own ass.

I sometimes think, when confronted with something I can't do anymore, why couldn't I have just lost one hand? Or why couldn't my thumb have been spared at least? But the past cannot be changed.

I should feel grateful for not getting bad disfigurement and burns on my face, or even losing my life. But I feel immense sorrow and regret. I hold back the tears... I don't know how to let go.

And when flashbacks hit, of the instant it happened, I get really anxious, a form of ptsd I guess.

From experience, how should I cope? I guess I just don't know how to deal with my emotions, and like I said, let go.

I'm not sure what to tell you, but have you looked into prosthetics?

prosthetics, what you went through is indeed incredibly traumatic. It will take years of coping, however life is a gift and im sure you realize how close you came to death.

im seriously not trying to be an asshole, even though it may sound like I am joking, but it seems that the majority of people who are struck with such debilitating circumstances such as yourself that they end up trying to do something which would be nearly impossible given the conditions.

Django Reinhart has only like 7 fingers and plays guitar better than most people.

It seems that being faced with such incedible odds of accomplishment that it atleast gave them time out of mind to cope or distract themselves.

You know like those guys with one leg who get prothstetics and run marathons.

yeah man.  I know its fucked.. but do your best to get into activities which you can still do.  watch some documentary's,  go out with your wheelchair.  But most of all, read and learn as much as you can.  When your well enough.. look into prosthetics for jogging and biking.

Good luck man, and keep posting here to let us know how your fairing.

Accept that you have to deal with it and move on.

When you grasp this concept with clarity, there will be no more room for negative coping mechanisms like frustration and escapism.

Im not much up on your story but here's my thoughts....whatever happened to you, whatever limbs are missing...whatever things happened to you....it makes you different from others in "society"....but it doesn't change who you are on the inside "if you don't let it"....and your still the same on the inside as others in "society" are on the inside.....infact now your better than them "if you think about it"

just realize your mind is designed to cope with such things if you let it....you will still be able to function "i hope" if you accept help around you...and the little guy in your head that says keep movin....remember your mind can take you anyplace you want to be...remember when you were a kid and NOTHING mattered...you just have to find them days again...and you'll be better for it. You lost things...just acceptit and move on...forget about it...sooner that you do the better off you will be.

Forget what society says "things are soppoed to be this way or that..."

the only thing you can do is accept it realize this,....or spend the rest of your life searching for "nothing"
