So I was out on a walk with my mom and we passed a yard with two of these guy, just huge sticking out of the ground. I picked this one and left the other, and we continued our walk and I told her about the mushy (as much as I could) and she said "you know, if you spent half as much effort in school as you did on this you could do whatever you wanted"

Habitat:
Found in bermuda grass.

Gills:
White/beige, with attached gills

Stem:
Diameter about 1,5" thick, about 5" long or so

Cap:
White/beige, slightly rough, VERY conical, convex

Spore print color:
N/A

Bruising:
Bruising within 5 minutes of picking and holding, turned light brown (can be seem at the bottom of the stem)

Other information:
Can't smell anything right now because I've got a cold.

After the photoshoot I dug a small hole in my front yard (same habitat) and put him in there and gave him some water, hopefully he'll start to populate the yard.

I will confess something that should be quite obvious, CC.  I love mushrooms, i.e. fungi.  I really do.  I am talking about a strong feeling, i.e. emotion, for them.  I think they are beautiful.  I even dream of them.

Its probably Chlorophyllum rhacodes, but print it before you cook it up to make sure its not C. molybdites.

That's what I suspected.  The last ones were stamped in 1938.  I was a numismatist in a former life.

Thanks.

i've got a bunch of pretty good condition coins from the early half of the 20th century if the numismatist wants more. I'll start using them in more ID requests and such.

I think it's an awesome idea!  Mushrooms are all but gone for me but I might do something similar, perhaps with condoms or something.  I'll have to think about it.

Yes Lepiota...prolly the green spored lepiota (chlorophyllum molybdites) since they were out in the open..do not eat, unless you do a spore print, and there is absolutely no green...because then it would be a shaggy parasol
