What personality traits do you feel are both a blessing and a curse?
    #9081057 -

For me, it would have to be stubbornness.  If someone tells me to do something, I will almost always end up doing the exact opposite just out of sheer spiteful obstinacy, even if it hurts me.

What personality traits do you have that are two-edged swords?

Oh, they're all both; it just depends on how you feel when you notice them. The trait is only a subjective isolation of a particular set of behaviors, and the definition shifts depending on the feeling (dependability=predictability; determination=closed-mindedness; etc). All the traits are a part of being, which can be both a blessing and a curse, if you look at being in such a dual fashion. Curses are blessings too, blessings curses, depending on how you're inclined at the moment, or you can try to avoid perspectival judgments of being (I am not there yet).

Self-consciousness.

Being aware of who and what you are, what your feelings and thoughts are, is definitely a good thing. But there is a fine line that crosses over into insanity if you consider these things too much.

So true, fear hold us back sooo much, but in the same way its what keeps us alive through the fear of pain

I think the fear that holds us back most is the fear of emotional pain as emotions should be fully felt not supressed, but obviously physical pain we should all fear to some extent

I like this answer--definitely would not expect this on a board comprised of psychedelic users.

I absolutely refuse to ask for help from anyone. I'm driven by logic in so many aspects of my life, but that isn't one of them.

Knowing who you are is the only knowledge necessary, you dont even have to go into thoughts personality or even feeling, you can just stay as you are when you stay focused on the Self

Its to sure way to sanity, insanity is forgetting who you are & becoming a bundle of conditioned thoughts. Insanity is self consciousness of a self that is unreal.
Pure self consciousness is the opposite of insanity its total clarity.

So if i think that your "self" is unreal, then by your own definition you are insane. Every madman believes he is sane.

Agreed, herein lies the problem.

Its like trying to define a word by using that same word in the definition. If you try to understand yourself on only your own terms, you create a recycling definition, which can spiral rapidly into what might be considered insanity.

Being a perfectionist. I have a difficult time finishing things that don't meet my expectations, which most things don't. Makes work and school (particularly art related projects) very difficult.
