Theylikethatshit:  I'll try to get some pics next time I get out there.  I guess the substrate was rich enough with woody material...

At 4:30 this morning it was 36° in Tillamook! The temps are definitely right but where is the rain?

I thought Cyans had hollow stems...the ones I've found in the past have...the one in the last picture doesn't seem to be hollow, or with pins is that sometimes normal?

Hollow refers to the structure of the stem, and not necessarily HOW MUCH space there is between the inner walls of the stipe.  You can kind of see the structure in those pictures.

Cyans tend to be very strong and yes the stem is considered white, but when you cut it, you can plainly see it is more of an orange-brown, and although the structure is hollow, it is definitely not a straw substitute

Keep looking. Most likely, you will find pins if you find anything. I have patches right near silverdale (about 30mins away), which have many pins growing right now... Anther good rain & they should fruit nicely.

Possibly P. stuntzii?

Edit:  Nevermind.  The nipple is obvious on those in the bottom right corner.  Yeah, those look like cyans.

I went for a 4 mile run today where I found some cyans last Thursday.  When I was done running I went to the spot where I found them last time. Some lady walked by and was asking what breed my dog is, leans over to pet her and I look down & see, less than 3 feet from where my dog is standing, a nice "little" patch.  I would take pictures if I had a camera other than the one on my computer.  I think i would look a bit funny out taking pictures with my computer.
Anyhow, here is what I got, and its not even half of what was there. There were tons of pins and quite a few that had already turned black. Ready for the next rain!

These, and a few others, have some black on the caps...are they still good?

Oh, and I was wondering, what is the best method of drying.  From what I've been told, I should just put them on a sheet of paper in a drawer or something.  Is that good enough?

Yes, unless they smell moldy.

That would probably let them get moldy.  Its better to put a fan on them overnight.  Or if you have an old CRT monitor or TV you can leave it on and set the mushrooms on top.

Wouldn't you know it...Your digging around in a field, the perfect semilanceata habitat, and you find cyanescens...tricky little monkeys.

Now it's up to the guys at the processing plant to do the rest...

Yeah, we've had a bit of of a dragon problem this year.  I guess that's what you get for setting up shop on Katilyn 7, a planet infamously known for it's mushroom-eating dragons....Oh well, there's plenty to go around....

Hahaha, that's the coolest thing I've ever seen in my entire life.  You're my friend

I just lay them on a cloth and let the fan breeze over them on high and they sit for 10-15 hours.

Western Oregon is in for another relatively dry week.  The weather warmed up, too, casting doubt on any formidable cyan success within the next 7 days.  Everything is still really dry, which makes me nervous about the season.  I might have to head to the coast.

Where is our fall, damn it!  Mushroom dance, anyone?    :discorex:  :mushroomgrow: :shroompick:

Yeah, the coast or higher elevation is where it's at right now.
